It will definitely be backwards compatible but games will have to be recompiled to work on the new system as it uses a different architecture and an ATI graphics processor rather than nvidia.

This would probably mean you'd have to have a HD installed to play the original xbox games as It seem that if they don't need recompiling, they'll at least need a patch to work.

Microsoft have also only said that the "best-selling" titles will definitely play on the 360 and the Hard Disk will come with patches pre-installed

I can't wait for the wireless, my mouse and keyboard work perfectly on my pc, being able to play console in bed without having the wire getting tangled and not having to hold my controller towards the tv cause the lead isn't quite long enough to reach my bed

I should imagine I will buy one! Will be awesome. Quite likely that I wont venture into PS3 territory - I prefer the titles on the XBox, so if that trend continues my loyalty will shift to MS.

Not going to get one straight away though, prices always plummet after a few months...could be a nice 21st birthday present :D

    MUM!.........

i won't buy either for a few years, if at all... see what the titles are like. i just wish they'd bring the price of games down.. remember £1.99 for a budget title and £9.99 for a new release for the speccy's?

As for backwards compatibility - Who plays PS1 games on the PS2? - not fucking me! whats the point? it just shows how inferior they are!

Never thought of it that way.

However, 40 quid I think is steep like...even with the above

£29.99 is a much better price - some shops charge that for new games, while others charge £39.99 - so it's not really the games producers that hike up the prices, its the greedy shop owners.

Gowansy - What wireless internet kit do you have? If you have to reset your modem alot, that doesn't mean it's exclusively because it's wireless. You can't just claim all wireless is shit cos yours isn't all that grand

I had just wondered which game you'd thought will be the best launch game- I pre-ordered the console a while ago but didn't order a game either, from what I've seen there should be some excellent launch titles though.

Games are over priced and therefore they will be Pirated. DEAL WITH IT.

They could do what CDs did and lower the price...... i have no problem with paying £9 or £8 for a original album, I would never have paid £15 a few tears back tho and would have downloded it

What you don't realise is the publisher gets most of the money, not the developer.

This is sure to change though, with the launch of systems like Steam. Developers can finally reach the gamers without having to sell their souls to publishers and hopefully this will result in a drop in price.

So? they're still over priced. i don't care WHOS getting the money - the consumer is still having to pay for it.

    £15 - £20 is reasonable.

    £45 aint.
