Without major reforms, America is still screwed. On top of their impending recession and shoddy economic situation - Obama has these goals to live up to. His 10 campaign promises.

Reduce the US's carbon emissions 80% by 2050 and play a strong positive role in negotiating a binding global treaty to replace the expiring Kyoto Protocol.

Withdraw all combat troops from Iraq within 16 months and keep no permanent bases in the country.

Establish a clear goal of eliminating all nuclear weapons across the globe.

Close the Guantanamo Bay detention center.

Double US aid to cut extreme poverty in half by 2015 and accelerate the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculoses and Malaria.

Open diplomatic talks with countries like Iran and Syria, to pursue peaceful resolution of tensions.

De-politicize military intelligence to avoid ever repeating the kind of manipulation that led the US into Iraq.

Launch a major diplomatic effort to stop the killings in Darfur.

Only negotiate new trade agreements that contain labor and environmental protections.

Invest $150 billion over ten years to support renewable energy and get 1 million plug-in electric cars on the road by 2015.

A few of those policies were probably written before the impact of the global economy really hit home. The withdrawl from Iraq/Aghanistan will definitely happen because they simly cant afford to sustain it.

Same with the clean energy bills - these can only happen if the new technology is cheaper than the cost of importing oil into the country.

I doubt he can have a major impact on climate change over the next 4 years because of money but hes got a good shot of reducing friction throughout the world.

Im all for taking troops out of Iraq - they shouldnt even be there but the reality is we invaded and put the Iraqis in an even worse situation. 18 months to put Bush's wrong doings right is over ambitious. We owe it to Iraq to withdraw only when things are stable - which will take much, much longer than 18 months.

Iraq will never be stable when it is full of the invader's troops. If we go or stay Iraq is fucked either way

Wor lass had me in stitches last night "most of those people only knew how to vote cos they watched X-Factor"

The whole fucking running was like a X-Factor audition the Americans are so fucking stupid. Osama ops I mean Obama is a celebrity not a politic on

The whole Election was won on RACE alone not POLITICS.

What the fuck does Obama know about politics the stuff has come out with has been as clueless as Bush, Gordon Browns ppl skills are zero but he knows his shit I have no fear he can handle that side of things but imagine him running in the USA they just wouldn't get cos he don't impress the judges with his dance routine.

Obama won cos hes black and is a good speaker but a good speaker does not make a good leader does it Adolf

how long has it taken the slave to become the master? 60 to 70 years? our kids will wake up one day with a mooooslim Prime Minister. This is what happens when you get ppl in to do cheap labour then give them a vote. It will be PM Mohammad or PM Slovak in the UK before the centurys out
