For Christ's sake, did I mention it being a common occurance? It's hardly going to occur with every news scandal, is it? What I meant was that certain wealthy organisations/important people may invest favourably in certain publications when attempting to publicise something in which they have involvement.

I would not expect you to have much experience of this, as it is obviously something which occurs nationally within high-profile publications and newspapers.

And are you really stupid enough to suggest that it was the media who discovered that there was no reason to have invaded Iraq?

Have you any examples of our corrupt media being paid to favour a certain organisation?

No, I haven't. Why? Because I don't pay that much of an interest in it, but I know it goes on. As a journalist, you're really proving your calibre by denying that.

Plus, you're picking up on very minor points in what I'm saying, and missing the bigger picture entirely.

    You seem to have watered down your point somewhat at first you stated;

"That's because the media in general are a group of parasites who can be manipulated. Happy to publicise something if they're getting paid/the sun shone up their arse, but equally as happy to write inaccurate and ludicrous drivel when they're not."

Now your saying this only happens 'occasionaly" "not a common occurence" "not going to happen with every scandel" and now you can't give me one single example of this every happening?

You seem totally incapable of producing a consistent and relevant argument. I mean for someone who takes great joy in knocking other people's intelligence... your not exactly Einstein yourself are you?

You spelled 'occasionally' and 'scandal' incorrectly, and used 'every' in the wrong context. Hardly the mark of a fine journalist, eh?

My original post was simply to wind some people (such as yourself) up. However, I do believe such things occur, and know this from conversing with journalists from publications I'd expect to be more high-profile than those you are employed by.

I never claimed to be Einstein, just intelligent, probably moreso than you.

Don't know if Sunderland and Teesside are poor universities, but Northumbria is far better recognised in terms of academic achievement etc across the country. So, I would say Northumbria without question.

you fucking spaz - cause you couldn't steal music and porn by abusing the facilities for ILLEGAL activitives - thats a bad reason not to go?

the reason its the way it is, is to STOP that kind of thing. it's against JANET regulations to use university facilities for illegal activities which is what that is

Don't listen to the whingey cunt - but I agree...

I did 4 years at Northumbria and have just finished up my Masters at Liverpool Uni, what he's decribing is academia, its the way univerisites work, no matter whether you go to a Russell Group/red brick or an ex-poly.. they are both completely inefficient and poorly managed in terms of student relations, you won't escape it so better just sit back and enjoy the ride..

Northumbria has been awarded best new uni 6 years running by The Times, but that doesnt really count for much.. of the two interviews I went to recently neither where sure where Northumbria was or exactly WHAT it was.. I think that speaks volumes about how insular Newcastle really is..

I'd say go to Manchester without a doubt, its a far more happening place and a lot less isolated, you'll have a far wider social group and probably have ten times the fun..

Having lived in both, if I was an undergrad again I know which I'd choose..

I work in recruitment and speak to finance directors/CFOs all day, and 90% of them don't know what any university outside OxBridge is like.

yeah i work there, however i never said it was bad or good - i was commenting on your stupidity about the use of university facilities. Part of the regulations about using university IT services is that ALL users of the network are authenticated for security reasons to comply with new security laws, as applied by JANET which is the body that oversees network resources for all university. what if someone downloaded child porn via a network port u regulary used? it'd be traced back to you.

with the new freedom of information act ANY public body or individual could contact the university and ask for network traffic records, users, etc to try find who or what was being transmitted over university equipment.

what about hackers wanting to attack the university? anyone could walk in a plug a laptop in and cripple the network, just like what happened to Northumbria 2 years go - HENCE the security.

    get your facts straight
