I reckon he's on and off for me. Like beans on toast, i go through phases of wanting it everyday, then for weeks i cant even look at a tin of beans.
That mix is shit as its got that track ft natasha bedingfield, if its the one im thinking of, then its rubbish. Even though theres some excellent tracks on there, that spoils the lot, lol

Re: no one on here has heard a better set than this

    Hmmm?

Id like anyone to refer you to ANY Van Dyk set circa 2000-2004 truly untouchable, built a set from nothing peaked it, then would drop it into breaks out of knowhere then proceeded to build back up again, all the way through would be devastating bass drops, key changes, massive transitions in mixes, a master class in long haul sets, I still dont know any Trance DJ this day in age that can play as good as he did back in the days of Vinyl & CD's?

I rate Armin but honestly dont think I could sit through anymore than an Hour & half of one of his sets, he seems get lost & starts playing these ropey european bootlegs etc... and hands in the air fairy trance with HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE breakdowns, type of trance I cant stand.

Give me 6 hours of the German any day of the week.

When i seen him play for 7 hours @ Amnesia in 07 he was never lost in that set, mind you i was lol.

Im not just saying this because i support him, but it honestly never got boring. Pulsating all the way through. And he was definatly over 138 that night for sure.

Lol, I've been lost a few times in that club also

I seen him once this year at Global, he dropped the Original version of Coldplay - Viva La Vida half way through his set in the main tent, couldn't believe it, walked out not long after.

    138....! Lol jesus.

I know the kind of stuff you boys are into & respect you defend it etc... but I really cant & dont think i'll ever be able to get away with that proggy/uplifting/12 minute break downs kinda trance, I cringe everytime I hear it in a club. when Van Dyk was minus his laptops no DJ could get close to him imo.

Lol. I know that aint exactly thumpin, but only mentioned it as thier was a comment about him always plodding along to slow.

Out of the big 4 hes the one i follow. Havnt really got a load of reasons, just i like the way he plays and goes about his dj'ing. Mind you, im not a fan of the coldplay bootlegs either lol.

    Still love Van Dyk tho........

Dont get me wrong if your into it then like I said fair play, for me & as far as personal preferences go Armin unfortunately doesn't do it at all for me?

Id love to see someone like Askew get some summer dates over there, still cant believe he gets over looked every summer?

Aye. What its all about different tastes and styles.

Yeh +1 with Askew & Ibiza. Iv seen Ian Betts and Bobina had slots over their this year. Their both top class producers but if they can nail sets @ Amnesia then Askew's gotta.

He'd lay waste to it :D

you have to admit tho, even tho PvD was good then - wasnt that nearly 5 years ago now?

and i think that he's going in the same direction of Armin now, especially since the DJ poll results. and tiesto's up there in the big 4 again because he's a punter has-been with a huge commercial following.

wait till next year, he'll be hoying in the proggy mainstream remixs and i'm sure someone else will do another remix of seven nation army for him to shoot his muck all over again

Im more picky now than ever, dont know if this is good or bad ? Lol.

All depends on the mood lyk, and what suits me at the time. In a club though i do prefer it tough and bassy (with the odd class melody thrown in)

    theirs the fussyness lol
