the topic of changing venues has been raised a million times....its not gonna happen....
there is nowhere to go to, foundation is the best club in newcastle, and there wont be any new ones for ages.
and if it moved, it wouldnt be the same....

I seem to recall reading about a new venue some time ago...in the Chronicle. I think it said that Nice were opening a new club near the Central Station...Simon E probably wrote that, he'll remember.

Nice were going to open one next to Po Na Na, but not sure what's happening with that now.

I agree with most people, leave Promise at foundation! Its a cool club plus its just far enough away to keep out the 'B*ja beer boys'

"WebbA dancing when picottos on is approached by a Tight-Blackshirt with white cuffs wearing man, holding a bottle of Becks, " Hey leek mate that Paul Van Dyks F**kan class like ya knar, almost as good as B*ja this leek!", Picotto over hears and jumps on the dancefloor wielding a large deck aiming for the mans head" :D :D :D

yeah i saw that in the chronicle too, but the flats and housing nearby opposed the plan. So maybe that had an effect considering the flats and housing around that area arent exactly cheap!!!

Foundation is a good club! Its also probably the best place for Promise!
Fair enough the place usually stinks but not half as bad as the boat.

IF Promise did move to another location it would have to be Newcastle Uni.

Don't you just hate it when people post things that they haven't really thought through, or take the time to get their facts straight.

BedrockBoy, what are you going on about?

and as for the "underground" tag that some people seem to give foundation/promise, it isnt really that "underground" just look at recent line ups - and write ups in mixmag, ministry, 7 and m8.

OK fair enough, I'm always suspicious of this 'Underground' labelling of clubs, but just because a club night get's a bit of press exposure doesn't make it any less credible. Though to be fair to the majority of Mixmag readers, the venue formally known as Circus Circus in the Bigg Market could have been considered underground from the safety of their bedrooms.

shindig only won "underground club of the year" cos mixmag cant bow into the pressure of the superclubs...

Eh? Is this supposed to resemble a coherant sentence? Made all the more confusing by the fact that Shindig won the award from MUZIK magazine.

On the subject of new venues, as far as I'm aware, the Nice project is un-changed - thought let's face it if you want to open a club in Newcastle that doesn' involve Ultimate Leisure, you're gonna have a fight on your hands.

It's is set to use the rail-way arches along from Po Na Na ala The Cross in London, though as Nice have proven in the past, don't expect it to open when they say it will.

In addition to this World Headquarters are moving once they get their new premises near the Swan House roundabout sorted, upon which there is supposed to be a new club too. There are also rumblings of new venues at The Centre for Life and The Gate (nxt to the big fuck off Co-Op) though if these don't dish up Galaxy cheese I'll be incredibly surprised.

I think Foundation is a class club, though I liked it better when it was dark!

WorldHeadQuarters are opening a new club very soon, but the website is low on detail! http://www.theworldheadquarters.com/

    Re: Re: new venues

thats the kind of thing im getting at, i do like foundation, good club... imho smaller clubs kick... does get slightly monot tho - and before someone says "fuck off to somewhere else then" - no.

theres plenty of slaggin goin on this post, nice to see that a few people can hold back and look at things from a wider perspective and a shame that some can't stop themselves from jumpin in, each to their own tho...

heres a suggestion (and just a suggestion- ok), what do u think about promise doin one off events in different venues- doesn't have to be a club in particular- come on lighten up!
