He was sacked for being shit, what has he done between now and then that makes you think he'll be any different? It's basically just giving the scouse monkey fuck a second chance cos Quinn knows even less about management. Fair enough Roeder wasn't most people's first choice, but last season came to an end he made himself a pretty good candidate for the job. Still probably wouldn't be my first choice, but I'm certainly not complaining. His tactics were spot on with a threadbare squad for the last 10 games, and he's not pissed about with Freddie's wallet so far this summer. There's no way you can slag us off for letting him have a go, and you'd look like mugs if you did.
League One bekons Sunlun will be more of a farce than they where last season no one wants the poisoned chalice , and roeder is more experienced than Quinn Hence we get duff for 5m, fuck knows who even plays Sunlun. Quinn has made a cracking start thou to his Chairmanship keep up the good work
i didnt say anything about reidy being good now or that he'd be good in sunderland for second time. i merely said he done well with sunderland and then fucked it all up at the end.
Roeder managed 30 points with 15 games in charge... sunderland only scored two more than that but it took them all season under a "proven" manager  Dunno about you but I'd rather have points than a manager with good previous form... both sounness and mcarthy had reasonable histories in the business and look how bad they ended up Going back to the Reid point, I fail to see how them having him on board will do them any harm. He worked wonders with a very limited squad and funds (apart from his last season there where he got it horribly wrong). Plus it means we can all dig out our monkey jokes again
I got my stats about roeder wrong... he managed 30 points in 15 games. Sunderland managed 32 points in two seasons, not one
thats not my point tho, surely a club this size of n/castle could have attracted a - dare i say - world class manager ?! and lets be honest, Mcarthys previous track record was nothing to shout home about, Millwall and Ireland...?
Every manager has to start somewhere mate... I'd be after another manager too if Roeder hadn't managed what he did... He took a mediocre season and turned it on it's head right at the end. He managed an average of 2 points per game plus he got a foothold into europe... not bad in 15 games. Especially seeing as it took you lot all season to manage half that points total. As much as you're taking the piss atm about his reputation, I bet if europe and a top half finish under an unknown or new manager was dangled in front of your lot you'd take it as opposed to a manager who's "world class" but wasn't able to deliver (sounness anyone?) As for Mccarthy - his past record wasn't going to set the world alight, but he did alright for himself, especially with his last world cup with ireland (apart from the keane bust-up).
and remember folks the people that were interviewed (martin o neil, allerdice etc...) they said they WOULD take the job if it wasnt for the championship. what about newcastle? no fucker would take that poison seat we didnt settle for 3rd...4th...maybe 5th choice...quinny did as he said. IF he couldnt get a world class manager then he wouldnt just appoint anyone (roeder) - he woul;d do it himself and WAIT.
Roeder was academy coach at the time and knew the layout better than anyone else... whats happened at sunderland is the equivalent of fat freddy appointing himself manager (and I hope to god that never happens ) And lets face it, if allardyce and o'neill wouldn't shift to newcastle, they sure as hell won't manage you lot
i love the sunderland fans argument, they have nothing to stand on at all, Chairman for a manager, championship football next season and the record for the lowest points in the premier league.
How many times have you's been in Europe? At the end of the day we have seen some fantastic football, fantastic teams, fantastic away days in some of the best footballing cities in the world! What have you'd done over the past few years to shout about? Nothing. You's would move heaven and earth to be where we are, attracting some of the best footballers in the country to our club! We sign Duff, you's sign Kenny 'over the hill' Cunningham. See Cunningham, read Gary Breen! You's are a complete joke and always will be. Some clubs would love to be in your position ie Chester, Doncaster, Bylth Spartans, but why do you constanly try and compete or argue against us? It's beyond me. The word jealousy comes to mind, and must be the only thing because you's will never ever be as big a club as us. FACT.
as ever mate they totally miss the point. quinn was told by EVERY manager that he went in for that the only thing putting them off was the CHAMPIONSHIP. newcastle are apparently one of the best teams in europe and they couldn't get any of the guys they went in for  say no more brother
That's just absolute bollocks. It's fucking laughable to think that given the choice of the two clubs anyone would go to Sunderland, even if they were in the prem. And even if they did, the main point here is you're not a premiership club! You'll probably not be for another couple of seasons either. And if you do manage to get up again, you'll probably just be raped by every club all season like you were the last two visits.
how the fuck do you know? fact is mags ARE worried about what could happen! we have a chairman who gives a fuck about the club and wants the best for it, not some fat fucker who only see's £ signs watch your backs. thats all we need so say. you are and always will be the great under achievers. remember when newcastle NEARLY won this? remember when newcastle NEARLY won that? always bottle it though you useless twats
