can hard drives be better than others? i mean stuff that i'll actually notice not lots and lots of numbers that don't make sense and a few nano seconds here and there

just want a cheap one for my laptop...

maxtor are shite, seagate are mint and western digital are good aswell. ibm deskstars are menna be good too

see - i've got an 80gb one of those from ages ago - and EVERYONE called it a 'deathstar' cause they're known for failing. i've been praying for years that mine doesn't go - and it hasn't - yet.
