    It's all good stuff

slapped an extra 1Gb ram in last night so now have 1.5Gb. Far Cry's is running a lot slicker now. But getting F.E.A.R. off santa and my PC spec is in between their min and recommended spec

The 6800GS will probly do me I reckon, can't be arsed fucking around getting a new mobo. Would mine support PCI express though and how would I check???? PC is only a year old.

Cheers for your help everyone :D

Everest will tell you if your current board is AGP or not.

If it is then it will have no PCI-E slot, the two standards are incompatible (although there are rumours that motherboard manufacturers are looking at the possibility of putting both on some boards).

You're best holding off a PCI-E motherboard until 64 bit CPUs become a bit more affordable unless you're going to choose an intel solution :)

these all sound fucking mint, i only have a crappy ati radeon 9200, didn't realise graphics cards where getting so mint, but then i don't play games on my pc.

Can you get a graphics card with four monitor outputs on for fairly cheap?

I don't think so.. I know you can get 3 output cards but I'm sure these are workstation standard cards (ie quadro series etc..)

However.. run 2 dual HDI cards in SLI and you could get 4 monitors working.

    Why though??

Also.. games on a PC (well FPS and RTS/RPG) are vastly superior to consoles... you should really look into playing more on ya PC

There's a good page of benchmarks / framerates for all of te recent games here- FEAR, Quake 4, Half Life 2, Far Cry etc.

It's got most of the top end gfx cards on. Worth a look if you're struggling to decide.....

    http://www.motherboards.org/reviews/hardware/1564_6.html

If you check out page 7, it has all of the proper benchmarking scores (3dmark / aquamark etc)

ended up getting a Geforce 6600gt, it's 128Mb instead of the 256Mb I had on the 5700, but with 1.5Gb regular ram as well it now kicks bottom big style.

benchmarked it on far cry 1024/768/32 with max bling and my fps went from 20 odd on the 5700 to 55 odd on the 6600.

    chuffed :D
