    1) Kingston Memory is good.. iirc 184 pins are what you are after.. I think.

    2) OEM means you will get it in a small anti-static box.. just the chip. It'd be a good Idea to buy a retail one if your unsure about hsf units..

    3) It will certainly get a boost.. especially since your more than doubling your ram, gaining 1.x ghz and gettting a new HDD which will provide more space for paging and stuff.

Double check your ram if you can.. i'm pretty sure it is 184 pin stuff though..

If the memory is incorrect you can always RMA it.
If they are twats they may charge a 25% Rehandling fee..

I'm sure 184 pin is right though..
Did you go retail with the P4?

I've had a quick look around.. and its proved inconclusive.

I'd imagine a 184pin DIMM should be right.
I think old EDO memory was 168pin cos it was smaller..

And as your memory wasn't explained in Everest as being EDO then I'd stick with the 184pin modules.

Sorry if I'm wrong though.. :(

cheers....just looking at my ram, and pics of ram on the net...there are two little gaps along the bottom of my ram which is similar to pics of 168 pin ram, where as 184 pin, only has 1 gap.

what is better, ddr or sd? would i be better off getting sd because i already have sd?

how many questions have i asked  i realy have no clue about pc/s and there hardware

so...two 512MB 164 pin SD-Ram chips is definite...i am almost certain on the 2.8GHz P4...and have decided on a 250GB Seagate Barracuda HD rather than the 200

Judging by what I read I'm sure that 168 is the way to go..

2.8Ghz is fine (I'm running a XP 2800+ here and its great)
    250GB is defo enough..

In fact.. you may well have a better system than me.
Until I get my opty sorted.. ;)

That'll be the cip core number..

    6th generation x86 chip.. BIOS = BIOS :)
    I think.

Just a small chip will arrive for your P4..

And shouldn't remove yet due to the thermal compound placed between the CPU and Heatsink :)

If you break the seal u have to reapply..
