Had a look at the venue last night and I can honestly say hand on heart its probably my fav place of all the various places we've done over the last 10 years. Room 3 is going to be amazing, a converted kitchen with really nice acoustics, can't wait! - sound rig already in there is at least about 4 or 5k and I've got some monitors i'll be bringing down on saturday

T minus 4 days and counting..... just ripping an old Howie / SLP Wear FM 'Blackout Session' tape onto MP3. The best hilarious banter between the two of them on air, talking about the blue monkey, giving shout outs to people in prison, you would honestly think they were both off the map whilst DJ'ing.

I too shall be playing exclusively from vinyl on Saturday night. Having a good old look through my vinyl collection I'm going to be serving up some of the best tracks from the last 10 years downstairs. I'm bringing my own 1210's just for this very reason....

I would not mind it if there were Cdj's there got some old stuff from old un mixed comps that it would be nice to plus if There are any needle issues or feedback switching to cdj's gives the sound tech time to get it sorted.

Room 2 is the upstairs bar bit. got a massive sound system in there already but we're bringing ours to put on the stage / around the dj booth area to give it a bit more oomph. will be a monitor too.

Have to have a look see what I can rustle up. Might just be the one but it'll be on a stand at head height.
Failing that our own sound system could be used for monitoring, the rig in the upstairs room is a canny size already so the extra we're putting in was going to be to give the sound a bit more direction but we could use the tops to monitor with. I'll be down on Saturday from about noon to sort things out.

Aye, they have a courtyard area out the back apparently, not that I've seen it though.

ahhhh rockshots, I remember DJing new years day morning in there around 2000 I think. Shindig had been on the night before, the doors closed for an hour (like a lock-in) then re-opened at something like 3 or 4am and went on til lunchtime.

I honestly think no other club in the city's history has had the impact Rockshots had from the late 80's early nineties in shaping what we have today, sorely missed and up there with the Trent House.

Used to play some of the best music in town, and was a far better club than digital or foundation have ever or will ever be.
Only the upstairs of the old riverside (before foundation) had the same sort of feel for me, all black paint, dark and moody.

*Shows age and sheds nostalgic tear too*
