    I agree 100%.

The basic fact is that Windows is relied on too much for MOST ppl to be able to make a TOTAL switch...

I agree tho easy intro Linux programs are good for people new to Linux (I used to really like Winlinux)

But u dont get much better then Redhat for a robust Linux operation system!!!

    Heh

An OS war down to the two simplest commercial distributions, sweet. :p

People can't choose a flavour for you. People can provide input on what to consider but it is you who will find comfort with a particular distribution. That is why there are so many....

Try a few over time, if you love the first one you try.... use it and get comfortable.

Good luck with it, if you get stuck don't be afraid to ask for help. Most of all, have fun.

    Work

    Which machine?

I do a lot of development (programming) work on the *nix systems (including OS X).

Development is also done on one of my Windows 2000 machines. Another of my Windows 2000 machines is work only - for all aspects of my work including CRM etc. This system I use most, naturally for my VPN and such. (I also have an OpenBSD for work only, but for my requirements, that is co-lo at a data centre.

So much is done on each system it would take far too long to describe, heh.

How about you? So, you're slackware right? Heh, the most BSD like of all Linux (mainstream distributions ;))
