    that is because they have delusions of grandeur. i just don't understand how stupid some fans can be, here is a club that has been there or thereabouts the top 8/10 in the country for an incredible length of time. yet with the leeds fiasco not even a distant memory they are insisting that their clubs break the bank in the faint hope of breaking into the top 4.

    buying one or two players in at 10 million a pop will not be enough to break into the top 4. what is needed is a sound youth policy and time for it to develop.

    As far as I know so called free's can have 6 figure signing on fee's & be on more cash per week than some players who clubs buy & looking @ that list I would say Benito Carbone & Peter Schmeichel would fall into this catergory, as would Steve Staunton & Hassan Kachloul who moved on free's when average players were getting big bucks for moving on Bosmans.
