That does not indicate that it wasn't purgatory though? Divine redemption, same thing. Why people are chuffed with that ending is beyond me - proper dog shit.
I really like it... Granted they didn't really answer anything... but as far as wrapping up a story with a happy ending.. its pretty hard to beat in my book. Read this: http://www.reddit.com/r/lost/comments/c7exe/discussion_thread_6x17_the_finale/ Eveyone is entitled to their opinion.. I've been watching this since about Sept 2004 I think... and I don't feel let down at all Plus... for all you people looking for answers.... a book is coming out... Christian said that the Island etc was real. God knows why people are calling the alt timeline 'purgatory' anyway, they werent atoning for their sins. It was just used as a kind of 'waiting room' for everyone to meet up before they moved onto heaven.
Yes. I thought it was amazing how they tied up all of the relationships. Everyone was expecting it to deal with the myhtology, but in the end I think that the characters were the most important thing
i cried at least 4 times. what a mincer. was proper in bits. so many people on forums saying "they were dead all along" really haven't got a fucking clue or listened to any of christians speech. i like how they tied up everyones lives, yet still didn't answer much about the island - why did samuel turn into black smoke? where did that woman come from? Still, i quite liked it but i'm sad it's over and wished it wasn't.
Where was michael and walt . This turned into an awful show tbh where the writers had even confused themselves. I would have given up on this ages ago if our lass didn't watch it. No wonder their not renewing flash forward
Michael couldn't leave the island, he told that to hurley about 3 eps ago ffs. He's now one of the 'whispers'. Walt was meant to be in it, his name was on the credits but whatever he was in must have been cut. Eko wanted too much money apparently, wanted 5x what they offered so they telt him to fuck off.
I'm not doubting how real the island or their experiences were there. All of it was obviously real, as stated by a Christian Sheperdess. And it was all a part of their eventual divine salvation, what everything on the show was leading too. Lets not be pedantic here, a core theme has turned out to be redemption. The writers denied that it was purgatory, if they did just mean the island, that's because we didn't have alternate timelines, time travel etc etc They mislead, no doubt about it, which is fair enough. Just a shame that it ended up being some watered down Christian bullshit about purgatory/redemption/whateverthefuckpeoplewanttocallit
It was a disgusting ending in all honesty, so fucking original and the writers behind it should be lobotomized although it appears that's already the case. Didn't something similiar happen in that equally shite show Life on Mars as well.

it really went to show that the writers didnt really care about the geeks who obsessed over all the little details of the show. i thought the ending was a well fitting (albeit a little over christian-american bias) and was a nice ending to an otherwise solumn looking ultimate ending. people should just lighten up - although i'm going to be missing my wednesday dose of lost next week like spin off's dya rekon? the "Lapitus and Miles show" or "what sawyer and kate did next?"
Aye at the end of the 3rd series where it appeared to be flashbacks but it turned out to be flash forwards. That was probably the best it got tbf then boredom began. Whilst I was longing for this show to end I found the odd episode about Desmond or that Daniel Farraday good watches.
