Lie and say you get frequent leg cramp or something. Or you could mention your mild claustrophobia but accidently forget to use the word 'mild'. Then you might get the seats next to the emergency exits which have tons of leg room. You'll have to get to the airport early enough to get those seats though.

Just ask for the wing seat, Theres loads of leg room there, because its usually where the middle door of the plane is. dont think you have to pay extra for that. You wont get a window tho and if anythin disaster like happens (god forbid) you'll be the one responsible for openin the door. If you can handle that you'll be laughin :p

I've been on a few long haul flights there a bit of a pain but the trip's always worth it. If you're really worried about the space you could pay a bit extra for extra leg room?!?!

When we were coming back from Singapore, we got stopped at the airport cos we were a big group and asked if we wanted to upgrade to the class in between economy and 1st for £50 each, it was well worth it, lots of extra space and free food n stuff and a nintendo!!!!! :D

my best tip is: have a late night so you are tired and fall akip! AND take plenty of your own drinking water. The planes are much bigger and you can stand up for most of the journey if u want.

Its the worst part of a long haul holiday BUT ITS WORTH IT

I was on an 11 hour one in January.

Then 12 hours a few weeks ago for Hong Kong

This weekend im going back to California for a week... Another 11 hours there and back!

My top tips for making long haul flights bearable:

    - Be as tired as you can before hand, if you can get 4-5 hours sleep on the plane it will make a massive difference. I usually get only a few hours sleep the day before, go all day and as soon as im on the plane, have a few mini bottles of red wine - Instant knock out!

    - Neck pillow. Some people swear by these for getting some sleep.

    - Plenty of books, Music and stuff to pass the time. The sound of the plane is enough to drive anyone mad so something to drown out the sound is always good.

    - Try and watch all the movies.

    - Sit near the window if you dont plan on going to the toilet / Sit on the Asle if your always up for the toilet or needing to stretch your legs (Like me).

    - Wear really confortable and baggy clothes. Take your shoes off when your flying - it makes a difference, your feet will swell up and it will make your legs tired if you keep them in your shoes. So make sure you have clean socks and trainers that dont ming when you take your feet out of em!

    - Drink an absolute ton of water. The air in the plane is drier than the Sahara Desert (Seriously). Being dehydrated on a plane is NO JOKE - it will make you feel like crap.

    - Moisturiser. As above - your skin will feel awful from the air conditioning so make sure you have some kind of moisuriser to whack on during the flight.

    ..... Hope that helps?

Long haul flights are a piece of piss don't worry about it, I must admit I'm lucky becuase I'm 6"3 so I can opt for the seats next to the door so you get lots of leg room.

But the planes now have about 15 different movies and you have your own screen so you can watch what you want, you also get computer games to play on and unlimited free drinks which is quality.

I've been south africa loads of time's which is 12 hours and florida last year which was 9 i think can't remember but its pretty easy going I find.

    I've been on a few..

11hrs (i think) to St Lucia and 8hrs to New York.

U've got nothing to be frightened of really.. I just watched the tv\films and got ratted.

U should get worried though if they put on a movie like Alive on the plane..

Excellent. That's made me feel better. I'd never heard of them, and it was quite cheap the flight. I was thinking it'd be a flying shed!!!

    Re: Long Haul Flights

I went on one about 5yrs ago to Japan which worked out around 12hrs. I'm not the best flyer ever to be honest and start to panic at the least thing. I explained this to my doctor...and he prescribed me with valium  Never actually picked it up tho... :p
