i used to live in a big house, my parents moved out before me so i got used to rattling round it on my own, then i got a teeny tiny flat, not big enough to swing a cat as thats all i could afford on my own.....i started to get lonely cos i didnt know anyone in the area so i always made sure i had friends to stay over n such like.

I liked the freedom of just sitting alone doing what i want when i want, but at the same time if richie stays away for 1 night now i get dead lonely.

I've virtually lived with him since as long as i've known him though, and we hardly ever argue so i guess that helps. I'd be beside myself if he went away for more than a day though, i'd get dead bored.

I dont think i could live with a 'flatmate' though, i'd get sick of them.

renting a 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the royal quays marina by myself =£ 500/month plus bills

although the G/F is moving in soonish.

cant buy anything until i have 3 years clean accounts (self employed) i have 2 years at present, G/F is going for medical school with a bit of luck, so we will probably buy a mansion then :p

I now want to move out of my parents house after reading this thread. But I can't afford to at the moment. You're all bastards.

i am such a looser

i had been self employed for 1 year, nobody would touch me with a barge pole, the deposit is not a problem.

i dont belive you can just walk in with a deposit and walk out with a mortgage

maybe if they had a guaranteur or their partner was working full time, or both?

or if it was only like an 80% one? cos then they can recover costs from the house etc?

i don't even know why i'm replying cos i have no idea what i'm going on about!

i may be in the same situation in a bit tho... so i'm hoping they just didn't like you :p

if you have a 10% deposit you can get what's called a self-certified mortgage. jsut means you sign a form saying i earn x amount, they may ask to see bank statements to see stuff going in the bank or normally just something from the inland revenue ie self assessment form to prove youre self employed. the bigger the deposit you put down the less checks they make
