The blue ones are free from the BBC so someone making at least £23 is just fooking wrong. The yellows were only £1 but people were making big £'s on them not so long ago
I've stopped wearing my yellow one when I realised everyone in my lecture had one! They were cool about a month ago, soon all the charvas will have them!
Just got back from Newyork and they where selling em everywhere dont think there is a shortage like any sports dept had them on sale at the counter for $1 dollar macy's, niketown, footlocker all of em
My point was that though some (probably the majority) wear them as they are (were) fashionable, some people may still want to buy them for the charity regardless of whether they are fashionable or not. Asking people why they still want to buy them when they aren't as 'cool' anymore is missing the charitable point somewhat.
Spot on!!! Some people wearing them now may be doing so because a family member died of cancer not because Allie was wearing 1 when he was mixing deepgroove volume 6.
Not at all. I know that most people wore them for fashion purposes. I just think it's wrong to question why people still want to buy them. Years ago most people wore the red Aids ribbon because it was the thing to do, but I would still wear one now (and sometimes do), regardless of whether it is fashionable any more or not. Not everyone is as shallow as you might think.
I know people who bought them because they were for cancer as they had lost family members to cancer. PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD
Does it matter if people are wearing them for fashion purposes aslong as the money is still going to charity?
I said not everyone, but I agree that an awful lot are! If you read the first post, Tiger says she wants a yellow one as she knows someone who has been diagnosed with leukemia (sp?). I think its a bit unfair then to say she is behind the times. I think we are getting at the same point, just from different directions! I just think it is a shame that people will be thought uncool for wearing them now, when they are probably wearing them for the reason they were made.
Unfortunately it seems that loads are being sold 'second hand' for comparatively large sums of money, which you can bet won't be going to charity!
I got one of the yellow ones once I found out what they were all about. Cancer charities are something I always try and make an effort to support, seeing as how it's had such a big impact on my family, so as a show of support I wear mine, I couldn't care less whether it's fashionable or not. It's achieving something though, a few people have asked about it and anything that raises awareness is good IMO, and it does remind me regularly of the people that cancer has taken away. To be honest, there's no way I'd wear a big dopey yellow band if it was just a fashion thing. to the profiteering bastards on e-Bay but TBH that's the only way I could manage to get one. At least some of the cash went to charity from the original sale.
