I do see your point, however every DJ regardless of genre or level will always find tracks that fit well together or need little or no effort to mix them, it gives sets a different direction as it allows more time do other stuff, if anything Techno DJ's are more guilty of your latter comment than any other DJ I know, they use beat tools & layers tracks over other tracks (that sound only slightly different) to manipulate a particular sound or track?

this may sound harsh but there arent any of the djs that crop up regualrly on loads of the local ''big'' nights flyers in town playing real / classic techno

its all minimal send me to sleep elevator techno

its about as techno as orbital are house (shindig take note orbital are not a house act)

What i mean is playing loads of tracks with very similar sounds and not taking risks to play tracks that have very different rifts/ bass lines.

Ie. just playing track with 32 bar beat intros and outros rather than keeping tracks in the mix and cutting them about bass line swaps etc.

If you play across styles its alot harder to fit tracks togeather without having to know your records.

Some tracks change tempo in the same tune or don't drop out to just to a kick at the end of a track..
