Im dissapointed that he hasnt signed a new contract but if his hearts not in it then it was for the best he leaves.Hes left us with a decent squad and if we bring the right man we'll be ok. I dont want Allardyce simply because hes ex newcastle but he would do well for us if he does come in.Anyone who thinks hes not a good manager is daft
I cant exactly be a fan of Keane as manager for much longer than 2 years though saying as thats how long he was in charge?
Sunderland players celebrate after Roy Keane resigns Roy Keane's shock departure as Sunderland manager sparked celebration among the players, it emerged on Thursday night. "He ruled by fear," said one source close to the squad, who added that Keane's hardline management methods had alienated many at the relegation-threatened club. Keane is understood to have announced his departure by sending club chairman Niall Quinn a text message. Quinn made several attempts to contact Keane to try to change his mind, but his calls and texts went unanswered. However, Quinn's fears were confirmed when Keane's London-based solicitor, Michael Kennedy, faxed a statement signed by his client to the club on Thursday at lunchtime. Keane later put out a brief statement which read: "I would like to thank my staff, players, Niall Quinn and, in particular, the fans for their support during my time at Sunderland, and I would like to wish the club every success in the future." Quinn, who is considering installing Sam Allardyce as Keane's successor, had returned from a short break in Portugal to sort out his fellow Irishman's future. But Keane has not been seen at Sunderland since last Saturday's 4-1 defeat by Bolton and he maintained his distance by staying at the family home in Cheshire, from where he has been commuting to Wearside by helicopter recently. "After the weekend, without going into too much detail, we gave him a bit of time to himself because everyone hurts after a result like that," Quinn told a media conference. "He was down and we tried to move it along, but we couldn't quite get there. "He will get a bit of time to himself now and I am sure he will recharge and get going again, and I am sure we all know the Premier League hasn't seen the last of him and he has got great things to come." Keane did not bother heading to the club's training ground to bid farewell to the players in person. Keane's bumpy ride Sept 2006: Inspires Sunderland to a 2-1 win over Derby in his first game as manager. March 2007: Leaves three players behind when they are late for team bus to Barnsley. April 2007: Carlo Edwards scores a great winner over Burnley to put Keane on course for promotion and title. April 2008: Premier League survival ensured with a 3-2 win over Middlesbrough. Oct 2008: Sunderland fans dance in thestreet as they beat Newcastle for the first time in 25 years. Nov 2008: Keane says he may quit after abject 4-1 defeat by Bolton. He walks away four days later. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...lebrate-after-Roy-Keane-resigns-Football.html
Looks like a pissed off journo having one last dig at Keane - looks like a load of shite if im honest as totally contradicts what Quinn came out and said yesterday.
so he spends 6 mill on a player and a week later he thinks he's shit haway graham lad get a grip no one is disputing the toon have signed some shite but at least they got a fortnight to prove themselves
Fair play to Keane for having the class to send "I dnt wnt 2 wrk 4 u nymre" to Quinny. Didnt even say goodbye to players & thank the ones who had done him well.
Roy Keane became so introspective and elusive during the closing period of his time in charge at Sunderland that often the only way Niall Quinn could contact him was by text message. It is understood that was how his resignation as manager was initially delivered to the chairman http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/dec/05/premierleague-sunderland What I wrote may not have been the text message though
Wouldn't fucking surprise me actually. I worked with the Irish for over a year. Grammar Nazi's they are not.
According to Sky Sports last night he never turned up to a number of training sessions & missed player meals etc... seems like there was a little more behind closed doors than whats actually been released by the club?
I got the feeling he set the standards high & he improved SAFC year on year but when things get tough he does what he has always done lashes out verbally & it now seems physically.....the tactics board didnt stand a chance!!! "At half-time during one game this season, Keane asked one of his assistants to set up the tactics board while he disappeared into the toilet. He returned to launch a kung-fu kick at the object, sending it flying into the wall of the dressing room. He then called three different players a ‘c***’ and took a swipe at another one, only just missing his jaw." http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article2006549.ece
He never moved his family to Wearside or the place most Sunderland players live Newcastle. I bet Ms Keane is fucking over the moon that he is now round the house all day, poor bitch. The battle for the SKY remote in that house must be fooking awesome!!!
Ferguson was gettin interviewed on the radio and didnt sound overly optimistic bout keane returning to management at all!!
