Even if you only get paid for what you work and don't have any benefits with the job like 6 months full, 6 months half etc...?

Since the CJA 2003 came into force legal professionals can now be called to take part in jury duty.

yep solicitors, barristers and members of parliament who all previously couldn't serve now can. bit of a nonsense really as i imagine most would be able to lead a jury fairly easily.

although not many barristers are actually having to serve due to the convention that barristers are all deemed to know each other and so are able to to excuse themselves by saying they know either the defence or prosecution counsel.

I did it. It was the most boring two weeks of my life.

You can reject it once and if your case is to go over the two week stint then they ask you if you can stay.

I didn't get one case until the last day and I said I couldn't stay longer than that day, so I was free to go.

    it is.

widely believed just to be a knee jerk reaction in response to the notion that juries were full of grannies and the unemployed.

well hopefully i wont get asked.

its rediculous getting randoms to decide someones fate. Imagine if you contributed to getting someone jailed and they turned out to be innocent

I'm more bothered that its around the time of my birthday-gutted in fact!

I hadnt even heard of it before, my mum had to explain it to me!! I dont think I could handle an abuse case, it would really scar me i'd be crying in the courtroom!

Is it something you'd put on uour CV?? Sorry all the Qs! x
