Matt is the only dj who should play the last set tbh. He was there from the start even in the prog days, and all the way through.

Shame it aint gonna happen like. :(

Although ive not really enjoyed Promise so much in the last year, its still a shame its ending. So many great memories there. Met so many great people there. Will be sad to see it go. I went to the very first one in April 2000, many many of them inbetween, and i will be attending the last one.

Will even try to stay till the end. :D

    sad, but long overdue...

i'd love to say 'maybe now isn't the time' ....but its not as if someones died...

sadly he hit the nail on the head, the same nail in the coffin of promise... although I wouldn't say it was entirely the fault of promise, maybe if the club itself had been refitted with the alleged loan offered by other parties then this may never have happened...

i doubt very much anyone will launch a trance night again in newcastle that will hit the peaks promise has in the last 5 years... maybe newcastle is finally catching up with the rest of the UK in terms of musical preference?

i've met a few good people, orbit, eyeball, revel, spence, jambon, terri, kid, daves, flutterbye, jane.. even duncan, through promise... and raved it up with friends now long since departed memories.. yet on the other hand, i had the ordeal of living with crasherkid for a year so it all evens out...

luke neville five years ago was my first night out clubbing at a real dance night and will stick in my mind for years... more au revoir than goodbye, i'll remember it this way :)

Great shame, had a feeling this could be in the works but didnt expect it to actually happen, certainly not so soon :(

Again, with the same sentiments as Scruf, i also agree with the previously made comments and I have mentioned some of them on many occasions, just ask Basic Instinct

Sad to see it go, gutted that from having such a choice, now there is only shindig to satisfy my dance music needs - will be shit after a while of not having a trance night to go to though.

I'll have to get myself along on Saturday. Had some absolutley cracking times at Promise and met loads of class people.

I had also thought about creating a new board. Perhaps Rob will just let someone move this one/take over it, or point us in the right direction. What would I do at lunchtimes :(

Credit to Mark and the rest of the Promise team, I wish you well in the future; although perhaps next time a punter makes a suggestion, you might pay a bit more attention instead of telling them where to go.

If it wasn't for Promise I wouldn't have met a lot of people I'm glad to have done.

Maybe Mark will stick a classics night in next spring or something? ;)

    Christ.

Very much end of an era - as has been said - Promise has been a lot to me over the years, so many good people, so many good nights.

For a while it has felt like we have 'clung' onto it, and it looks like that is going to be the case.

regardless of how it's ending, it has provided me with so much to remember and for that i thank everyone involved.

I am gutted that i dont think i'll be able to come to the last one, have plans elsewhere and they aint the kind i can throw away.

    farewell. :(

well people are obviously gona be forced to look for other nights to attend?? even though it's just 1 night a month so where people gona be heading?? techno has took over my loving for trance so il be continuing to support hoked bar sesions down at the other rooms, henrik b being on the next line up so should be fooking class, also will be heading down for shindig now and then
so it's not all bad, think the arena event will defos be last one like,
as after the last one was meant to be:( funny ive been to every arena event from the first one on nye 1999 and every time i return it bring's back some memories:D

News like this is never good and i can definately say ive met some great people from Promise and other associated nights over the years.

.... Sadly i think this is indicative of the whole clubbing scene in general and i dont think Promise will be the last club night to suffer the same fate. In recent times i think people have gotten way too greedy and its places like foundation who just cant compete with the massive names and ever increasing demands of clubbers to provide them with a laundry list of A list DJ´s before they even leave the house.

Having said that .... this leaves a good 1000 or more people in newcastle with no trance club in their own backyard to go to anymore.....

.... So maybe someone with a few grand and a 500 to 700 person venue might do well to book some of the old school trance and prog dj´s and give things another go eh :D
