Or if you have a dvd writer, just get a dvd player that can play good formats, then just burn them to dvd without conversion

I now hate that method. It was cool 3 years ago but now the piles of dvd's that are piling up and the amount that are scratched is starting to annoy me. It's gonna work out a lot more convenient to have everything on a hard drive that is essentially plug and play with any pc/monitor/tv. :)

Well that's gonna be the case with any media tbf unless you lock your dvd's in a safe. I try my best not to leave dvd's lying around but somehow they still get scratched/lost.

Yeah but if your hard drive fucks you lose every film youve got, if my dvd gets scratched (which they dont in my wallet) then I lose one film. These things are a good idea but I just dont trust hard drives without having a hard copy back up

if you were uber rich you could just get some externals, fill em with shit and unplug them when theyre not getting used, theoretically making em last for years and years
