    Sound...

We don’t actually hear sound. Audio, as we perceive it, does not actually exist. Audio events create oscillations at a molecular level. Our brains decode these molecular pressure wave fluctuations through the Cochlea.

We only 'hear' perceived sound, as the brain interprets it.

    Re: Re: Sound...

Imagine if you dropped a stone into a still lake. You would see waves spreading out from the centre to the edges. Ok.

Now, every noise creates these waves, but at a molecular level, that is smaller than you can see with the naked eye.

The human ear channels these waves through a clever organ that acts like an amplifier, sending an 'interpretation' of how the sound waves should be perceived 'heard' that is, to the brain. The brain then organises the input from the left and right ear, building up a three dimensional image of the wave forms.

Until this point, these waves have no sound, they are just displaced molecules. The brain allocates frequencies to the waves.

    Did that help Kerry?

I was not trying to baffle anyone, just posting an interesting fact.

    Lee!

    think about this Kerry...

If a tree falls over in a forest, but no-one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

    and...

If a man is alone in a forest, no women around for miles, is he still wrong?
