the cartoon would be more accurate if the Israeli soldier was hiding behind a tank, supported with an F16 dropping bombs on the Palastinian, who was armed with a pile of stones and a home made rocket

I have friends who's children have been raised knowing nothing but bomb shelters, they're even educated in shelters... they've witnessed family and friends injured or murdered by Hamas missiles.

Over 3000 rockets have fallen on Israel this year alone.... Hamas launch these missiles, rockets and shells from built up areas, they stash them in mosques, fire them from schools, train their militants in residential areas.... I ask you a genuine question.

What would you do?

What would you do if every 3 hours your child had 15 seconds to reach the safety of a shelter... Every 3 hours a missle falls on southern israel - you know exactly where they're being fired from, you know who's firing them, you know where they're storing these weapons.

Israel is defending it's children.... Hamas are using their innocent children as human shields... pawns in their sick propoganda.

Yeah i'll tell you what i'd do:

1) Realise that what I am doing at the moment isn't working, and didn't work when I tried it 2 years ago or any other time.

2) Recognise that in order to overcome the desperation and fundamentalism that leads to young palestinians being willing to kill themselves that some form of carrot is going to be needed instead of a stick. A good idea would be to open trade routes and provide education and healthcare.

3) Stop denying a few truckloads of food to the people I have empoverished whilst accepting several billion dollars of aid each year from the US.

4) Tell the people I am advising to leave their homes where they are supposed to go, and if I've told them where to go then not bomb it and kill everyone inside anyway. Ditto schools the UN has given me coordinates for and told me about.

5) Withdraw to my pre-1967 positions, open trade routes with the Palestinians, give them food, build schools and roads, talk to their elected governments. Prosecute citizens and soldiers who murder Palestinians. Tackle terrorism in territories by financing and supporting moderate groups and police forces of elected governments.

Israel wants to tallk, infact israel does nothing but talk - what has been happening in Egypt over the past 2 years? What has been happening for the last 50 years? Israel has initiated more peace talks than any of its Arab neighbours.... Israel don't just talk they act! We pulled out of Gaza.... Yet Hamas wont even recognise our right to exist, this is why the rockets wont stop.

Israel has let in 500 aid trucks since the conflict started, thats more trucks than Hamas have fired missiles into Israel... I ask you - how many trucks have Egypt allowed in?

You call Israel evil, yet Israel supports a nation that wages war on it with aid... while its allies hold a nation to seige.

You're deluding yourself, there are no rockets or AK47s in trucks of UN food. Stopping them from entering like israel did in the early weeks of their assault, is a collective punishment in the worse traditions of the nazis.

The young boys crying seen next to the decapitated bodies of their mothers whilst israeli soldiers look on are going to be rocketeers in 10 years.

Did you wonder why noone in Hamas is listening? If the jews within the warsaw ghetto had been given the vote, and their choice was betweek a group which had tried for years to talk and appease the nazis without success, or between a small radical group which promised to smuggle weapons and fight a guerilla war regardless of consequences, which would they have chosen? Israel missed its chance to deal with moderates and is stuck.

what do you call the herding of innocent women and children into a building and then bombing it, then preventing anyone going near the children left clinging to their dead mothers bodies for four days? I would call that execution of the innocent

Hamas was elected. You may not like that but it's true.

Gaza has been a prison since the Israeli pull out. It was decided it was better just to wall them in rather than continue to try to keep Israeli soldiers in harms way inside the occupied palestinian land. Home made rockets were a predictable result of this policy.
