Not to keen on the venue;)

Newcastle racecourse would have beenb my preferred choice: just off the A1, ample car parking & no near by hotels complaining to the council about the noise.

unfortunately it seems its the way clubland is going everywhere now. i know godskitchen have been really struggling too.

but i think it will generate better 'parties' now cos we will have been deprived for 3 weeks so everyone will be gagging for it!!! :D

Most of the people there were your mates/fellow twisted DJs or fellow message board members hardly the most critical crowd in clubland

Right, but people still never knew what was in store.

There was only one person there that night that had heard me DJ before, but I never heard one person complain about my set :)

Anyway, this is a thread about Promise not me...

i only stopped going as much cos the likes of lab4, rob tissera, yoji, eddie halliwell etc just arent to my liking

when it was prog and some trance (ornadel, van dyk etc), i went at least 2 or 3 times a month

Jeff was on about spending money on drink, not attendance.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The numbers...

But surely the money spent on drink went to Foundation, not to Promise?? Isn't that what usually happens the club gets the money from booze not the night?? might be wrong tho????:)

Bigg market is flyered (as is quayside and usually around revolution) every friday 8:30 till11. in Bigg market especially they mostly
a)take it and throw it on the floor, 1 sometimes 2 metres further down the street,
b)shove their 90year olds breasts in your face,
    c)threaten you with obscentiies
d)scream in your face 'where's the boat' to which I can think I'm funny and say 'it's on the river near bajas' when they mean flyerers for the boat, or 'where icon flyers4half price entry'etc,

or a not very subtle combination of the above. The exception to this was when judge jules was on and they all started screamin *puts on geordie accent*'It's judge jules canny like canny like canny like canny like like like like like' and wanted directions. If it's someone else they usually don't want to know tho(i'm sure dave pearce will be an exception) True they usually seem to have forgotten what/where promise is by the week after. In short they don't really know much about music and just want to see the Judge because they've heard of him and he's on radio1!!

also true what some people have said about people thinking foundation is shindig. Sometimes they ask wher promise is,and we're like 'foundation', 'where's that' and you have say it's where shindig is for them to know where you mean. Sometimes they think it's too far away, even when i tell them if you can't be arsed walking it'll only be £3in a taxi, between 4of you that ain't that much is it?!!!

BTW I hope my descriptions a), b), c), d) haven't given the impression I'm snobbish (cos i'm not i ain't got much to be snobbish about!) I was just stating the facts... I would give flyer to as many people as poss and encourage them all to come, telling them what a top night it is etc

And we do get more done than icon or the boat flyerers but it appears99% of the people going out have deceided where they are going before (generally icon, boat, bajas, blu bamboo for people in bigg market)

About the arena evernts... we flyered to everyone at the beginnig and end of the last one and the big advertising trailer next to the queue saying Scott Bond was on next week, etc, but the facts are the 'Beer Boy' croud you talk about like big events with big name DJ's which is why they went to the arena, where nusic more to their taste would have been preferred (ie generally cheesier). & yes i agree £30for arena is shit comapared to promise for £10 but thats just my opinion.

When promise was fuller most weeks ie year and a half ago it wasn't just beer boys then was it?? The regulars from that time have sadly dropped dramtically in number, for whatever reason (becasue they've seen many of the DJ's many times before, trance is getting less popular, they prefer house or whatever). Promise has done well overall, especially to stay weekly as long as it did. Hopefully the new change will make it more busier on the nights that are on, and we can get a very late lisence once a month for newcastle (6am i hopes, if not 4i'm sure will be ok).

    ta4listening(if ne1 did!!!) IN a bit... :)
