    lol @ Mark ...

well ive tried to tell them, so i suppose everyone should hear it from the big man himself........
thats why myself and crashedjonny have collaborated an idea killing two birds with one stone on a saturday nite:

    1.local talent showcased
2.something and somewhere to go saturday nights now that crasher has crashed!!

anyways, if people want to see local talent play, check out the "LOST" post, also, for the likes of Gav green. Snarf, cyberted, etc etc.... they should get in touch with myself or CrashedJonny if they want to play.

we are running the "LOST" night on a Saturday.

i'm sure alot of people would agree with me that they certainly wouldn't mind hearing richard doing a later spot.. and possibly having a "local" dj do an earlier one every now and again.

but if the financial economics prevent it, then so be it. :D after all as much as promise is a club run very much for the people it still is a business at the end of the day.

One way to do it might be occasionally to give a local dj the first hour. Then Rich can do 11-1 and the "big name" of that night can play 1-3 or 1-4 (hint for more 4am finishes :p ).

I know an hour is not much but im sure most people would jump at the chance to play any amount of time at Promise. Im not saying do this often, just maybe once a month or so.

I for one aint for the local dj thing...

Do you go to crasher, sundis, gods, slinky, babooshka, cream, MoS, etc. and expect to hear a local dj in the main room? No... Why should Promise be any different?

I'm all for supporting local talent - but you don't put them on in the main room - this is an established spot for established DJ's... I personally feel promise should sort out a decent pre-bar with music to suit... this is where local talent should be showcased - even the back room could host local talent... but in the main room - no thanks.

Maybe if a DJ pulls out, then an up to par local can stand in (Lee Foster is by far the best local I've heard :D)... but booking local's for main room slots aint good business or clubbing sense.

I don't think that I would say that Lee Foster is a local DJ. Fair enough, he might live in the area, but he has played at some of the best clubs around including The Sugar Shack with Paul Oakenfold, Crazy Dasies with Jules, Ministry of Sound etc.

Exactly mate! He's played loads more including in Amsterdam wiv tiesto, and I can't really remember the rest. So, if you call Lee who's a LOCAL dj, eventhough he's played at all these clubs along with Jules and Oakenfold, would you call Jules and Oakenfold LOCAL dj's too? I know it doesn't make sense, but I know what point I'm trying to make!
