    .........................................Given.........................................

    .....Carr...............Boumsong................Bramble..............Taylor

    .........................................Parker.......................................

    ......................Dyer...............................Emre.....................

    .........................................Luque.......................................

    ........................Shearer.....................Owen.......................

I'm sorry but most managers would be very happy to field that side, if someone got the best out of them it would be class. Fair enough Owen is crocked, Shearer is about to retire and Luque is looking like a no show, but sell Luque, bring in N'Zogbia for him, with the money from that buy a replacement for Shearer and you're sorted for next season! Plus Milner of course to strengthen the midfield and anyone else the chairman decides to bring in! If we find the right manager I think Newcastle could have a very good time of it next season and be up in the top 4.

top 4? rubbish, making the top 10 should be a priority for you lot next season, dont get ahead of yourself. there are several better teams and many more consistent teams than newcastle.

We have just as much chance as Everton, Bolton, Spurs to get into the top 4 with the money we have and with a better manager next season. Bobby did it twice, so why can't we do it again with a top quality manager like him? It's just comes down to jealousy, and whatever you Mackems or Smoggies say, it could easily happen!

We've got the players to so it if we sign another top quality striker, and keep Owen, and get a brilliant centre half to play with Taylor. Any real quality manager could come into Newcastle and make it a really good team!

exactly the same could be said of boro, we should be up there challenging. the thing is there are chelsea, man u, liverpool, arsenal, tottenham who all certainly have better squads... while man city and bolton are more consistent.

i think both newcastle and boro have to seriously prove themselves next season and it can take time for a manager to get the squad he wants... regardless of his managerial quaities, if a motivator like souness cant get some players playing then maybe some of them have to be shipped out. i just dont think fans should all of a sudden get overconfident.

I'd hardly describe Man City as being consistent!!

I think If Newcastle turn St James back into the fortress that it was a few seasons back we could have a really good shot at top 4 next season. Lets face it, Souness maye b a motivator but it simply wasn't working at Newcastle. There was something seriously wrong. Plus he chucked out Robert Bellamy plus other who could still be doing very well for us. He was an absolute disaster.

man city are FAR more consistent than newcastle.

i hear you and miller saying if we do this and if we sign a great player it could easily happen. its no where near that easy... i guarantee that newcastle will not make the top 6 next season. now dont get me wrong, i dont think newcastle will always be mediocre as there is vast room for improvement... but top 4 next season? especially after the past couple of years...

I'm not saying we WILL be, but there is a good chance. It's not beyond quite a few teams. We've done it before, and there's no reason why it can't happen again. Everton did it, anyone can if that's the case. I'm not sayinf we're going to be amazing next season, but things are shaping up alot better atm, and if the right man comes in, then we have a pretty good chance of playing Champions League football once again in the near future! It is not beyond us by a very long way!

well you've got rid of souness so thats a start

theres no doubt boro and toon should be higher up the league but actually pulling it off is the main challenge... fair play if you do it, you're overdue a good season but obviously i dont want to see that happen, and i dont think it will for another year or 2!

No one really deserves to be anywhere, the table doesn't lie, but Newcastle are defo moving in the right directions, and with the right 4 or so signings in the summer they COULD will be very near the top
