Well i could never count. No what i meant was if ur cpu fan is broke, then ur processor will heat very rapidly(like in under 10seconds) and will cause ur pc to shut off

    Sounds like a software/windows fault.

If you have Norton Utilities, run Windoctor.

if its happening with different operating systems, then it sounds more of a hardware fault, your hard drive maybe on its way out!
    does it happen everytime?

If it's been off for a while and you power up but go straight into safe mode does it freeze?

Is your BIOS showing all your drives as being detected on boot up?

If you restart the PC after it has booted up normally, does it hang again or does it boot normally after that?

You can always try ripping out all non-essential hardware and refitting em one by one.

There are tell tale signs when there is a hardware problem whilst booting!!! You should look to see that your Ram is counted to the right amount. You should check that your CPU is displayed at the right speed and that your hard drive is shown at the right size!

These should give you a good indication to whether your hardware is broken or if there is a loose connection!!!;)

Feel free to contact me if you are still having problems!:)
