How is it that Communism was proven not to work? Look at the former Soviet bloc states today. Although they practised a form of socialism that was clearly not Communist or even intended to be by its leaders, it achieved record breaking economic growth, full employment, the highest literacy rate in the world, free healthcare, and the tightest Lorentz curve in the world: economically, Socialism in these countries was a large success. They fell because of the terrible social conditions therein.

However, the oppression that felled the Soviet empire is not a universal feature of Communist states and systems, although it is a common one due to the nature of how a Communist state is established, ie revolution. Look at the Israeli Kibbutz: these settlements were non profit, non provate property, communal living and working places with no wage differentiation between workers. They were higely successful, and were perfect microcosms of how a Communist society could work. But, with success came money and they became corrupted by the right wing environment in which they existed.

If a Communist state was established along the fouldation lines of the Soviet Union, but which had a strong enough leader (in character, not power) to truly delegate decision making to the people through devolved councils, the results would be prosperous, egalitarian and free. This can happen, it is simply a matter of when.

under capitalism, you will never get one either unless your lucky / a good thief

at least under communism, you would always get the necessities of life, and as much more as the nation could afford; under capitalism, there are plenty people who die just because they don't: its inherently and irreversibly unfair
