Sound system is not the best but I still think it is the best space in town....

To be fair to Dixon he was knackered, had played 4 gigs in 4 days all over Europe. At one point he didn't know if he would be able to make it till 4am but he then pulled out all the stops.

Agreed it's a great space, I just think the sound system is a bit tired after 7years of battering

I struggled to get into him for about an hour or so this time round but he definitely pulled it right back for the last 2 hours imo.

Lister have to agree with you on the sound system, but its that age old thing about Newcastle isnt it. You could spend all day picking holes with every venue in town, there is not 1 and I mean not 1 venue that ticks every single box when looking for somewhere to hold a night. Its easy for punters and promoters alike to pick fault, but you can only work with what you've got.

As Danny says, in the lentgh of time we have been putting stuff on I personally feel WHQ is the best space in town. I thouroughly enjoy putting Habit on there (more than I have anywhere else in Newcastle) and I am the first to hold my hands up and say the sound isnt the greatest. But you get a good atmosphere and it just feels right. I am sure most would agree. For alot of people on a night out sound is secondary, for the heads there solely "for the music" the sound is a massive priority.

Its hard to get everything tip top and at the right price. You could go out and spend a fortune on extra sound, but that doesnt fill a club or attract heads alone. When you're putting on a night at the tail end of the Easter Weekend, with so many other events having been before you, possible all day drinking in the sun and people sloping off home early. The reality is you may be empty, you may also be full and you may also just do alright.

Its all a gamble. One major factor for us was deciding do we run with more sound, do we put some lighting in, do we get some smoke on the go? We wanted to do all of those things, but the harsh facts of putting on any night is weighing up the definites with the possibles. There were no definites with Sunday, just that it could be all it could be, or it could fail. Its the same with everything we have done and continue to do.

So aye the sound could be better, Dixon could have played 3 hours of mind bending music. But all in all I still went home having had a great night and hopefully everyone else did too. Thats all you can hope for isnt it........

When we do the next one at WHQ I think we know what is on top of the shopping list :)

Had a good day/night on sunday, can't really remember the first hour or so of Dixons set. I dunno if thats because it was boring or i was just hammered :drunk:

    Love WHQ as a venue

The soundsystem is ok imo. Much better than the one in Cosmic Ballrooms anyway. Out of all the venues in town WHQ is definitely the right place for Habit!
