hope the place doesn't close but i don't reckon it will. the place has too good a reputation in the north east and the uk people have heard of shindig from all over the uk. we shall not be moved.

Even if someone else does buy it, it would be in their own interests to keep Promise running on a Friday with it being such a high-profile night you would think?

i doubt even if it got new owners theyd change things, especially cos stone love, promise and shindig are all successful, money making nights.
    why change a winning formula??

    No, in other places.

They have quite a few in other cities around the country.

that's the only sensible comment I've heard on this thread.

Why would Po Na Na sell a club that is close to full Thurs-Fri most weeks? (does StoneLove fill the place?) and presumably makes £££ cos it is?

Why would a new owner want to take a club that is mostly full anyway in a different direction?

It's far too remote to make it towny

Would take a major (i.e expensive) change to make Foundation anything other than what it is now - a dance music venue

Typical Chron/Hournal scare-mongering. Bad news is good news. Good news is no news

See my first post in the thread. I said pretty much what Mark said, just not as definite as he put it.

Nobody listened when i said it!

How much rent are they paying on Po-na-na orbit?

It would be one of the worst things to happen if that place closed - its by far one of the best bars in the entire of newcastle.

    Agreed.

Whenever I've been to Stonelove it's generally pretty full, especially compared to other indie-type nights, and you can get bottled beer for a quid:D

I can't see foundation getting closed. It's probably one of the best places in newcastle, catering for different people every night. You got SMILE on monday for the students, stone love for the indie lot, promise on the friday, and shindig on the saturday. I know from going to all of the above at least once, that there is lots of interest in these nights and always a good turnout.
