That's not the point though is it - I'm not the one who is being arrogant, openly slagging it off, and spouting utter bollocks as to the cause of the problems with the system. I was not slagging off the DJ's, or the promoters of the night. So saying you can't remember my name on the line ups is just a terrible come-back.

And where did i claim to be a sound expert  If you read the post you will see that i AGREE that it has not been sounding too good lately, especially on that night. Woops :dunce:

How can an opinion be held about a night to which he clearly did not attend??

MANY people who I have spoke to have said it's the hottest they have ever been in there. Was my hottest night there also.

    Were you there??

Before you start defending people maybe you should find out the facts as to why they were flamed in the first place.

here is the thread, you should read it. The references to the night in question start jsut before the end of the first page.

I suppose it was still "empty and was due to the crap dj"

Ah ok, I did genuinely find it strange that a Resistance DJ would be slagging off Promise and its promoters mind, seemed random.

Point it at whoever wrote it then :p

Oh I thought he meant that I should get an apology

Yes, I was only replying to what was posted, and even if it wasnt you, I shall stand by it.

If it wasnt you who wrote it, then theres no need for me to apoligise to you, as it wasnt aimed at you personally, rather the person who wrote it :)

To be fiar I don't go to promise anymore because of the poor sound, and to be fair I know a lot of people do them same, maybe thats the reason promise never gets busy anymore maybe not.

But losing customers for whatever reason isn't a good thing everyone has to agree on that, I just think that a lot more people would go to promise if it sounded better.

It does like! & to be fair i reckon the main reason people might not go to Promise is cause of the Dj on that night not 'the sound quality'

sorry - but, to be fair, thats got nothing to do with it.

i bet theres only a handfull of people who actually could tell the difference between a "good" soundsystem and a "not so good" one by the time they end up clubbing at the end of the night.

its all about who's playing and going to see mates - hardly to do with how good the sound system is!

This splitting hairs shite is a pile of gashwank. A clubs sound is never gonna appeal to everyone that goes everytime, whether you are good at sound engineering or not. Im not gonna slag someone for being able to distinguish the levels etc but the VAST majority of people dont give a fuck, they are there for a good night.

Can you please tell me on which nights you have experianced poor sound in Foundation and in what way you felt the sound was not up to scratch?

Is this something you have only ever experianced at promise or have you noticed the same at other nights in Foundation such as Shindig or Stonelove?

Can you also give examples of other clubs in Newcastle that you feel sound better? Just to help the people reading this to put your comments into a useful context.

Never been to shindig or stonelove so I can't comment.

But the sound is far to bassy and it overpowers the rest of the mix It's hard to hear the mid's and the hi's sound really distorted and harsh however that probably the DJ going into the red on the mixer which they should be sacked for in my opinion.

Most nights sound bad to me at promise but I haven't been for a while as I said before, last time I went was tomcraft and that was the worst sound I've ever heard in a club.

I might even be inclined to say the system in foundation is to big for the size of room.

To be honest you saying which clubs sound good in newcastle there isn't really a club in newcastle that is of the same size and plays the same music, but I suppose if I had to say some then I would say the main room on the boat sounds good, IKON also sounds good not really been to any other clubs were I'd say the sound has blown me away.

I got a few questions for you.

Does the sound get mixed when the club is empty? (this maybe be the reason because people in a club absorb the higher frequencies and make the bass sound overpowering).

Where is the mixer for the sound in foundation?

Does the sound guy walk around the club after he's mix the sound to see if it sounds right?

    NO WAY WAS IT!

I was at both Sasha, and the Promise in question. Sasha night was MUCH hotter. It was in June, and a hot June day at that (we were all drinking outside Egypt Cottage at about 9-10pm). There were 2 inch deep puddles forming round the bottom of every pillar. Trust me, this Promise was nowhere near as hot. It was hot though.
