    So have I James

There isnt nearly as much interest in dance music as there was when we first started going to clubs, fact

The people who go to Detox etc are hardcore clubbers who will probably still be going until they are 50/dead

Anyway, Im not trying to piss on anyones fire here.....

    What about the green festival.

Aye dance music is changing and its going back underground but to me thats a good thing.

Its not dead si, but poeple are getting bored of the late 90's and early 2000's large club blueprint.IMO.

It needs to reinvent by getting smaller with a better atmosphere and a more interesting format i don't see big super clubs like digital being the way it will do this.

Anyway i prefer smaller more interesting club nights, Festivals and Free partys so i'm ok anyway.

Mark Farina at shindig at digital back in february was one of the best club nights i've had out ever. for me the venue/atmosphere etc doesn't matter much if the dj is playing stuff i like it's a top night, the crowd and atmsophere was top notch that night though,

i had a blinder at darshan jesrani at wax on last year upstairs at digital and there was only about 12 people there:lol:

i blame all this electro techy heavy grumpy music for people being grumpy in clubs, go see masters at work, dj spen, farina or somebody else who plays some happy vocal funky jazzy stuff and the crowd will probably be alot happier:lol:

Music needs to put a smile on your face and it needs to be uplifiting - those two things make a good atmosphere IMO.

While I believe the atmosphere is of utmost importance in a club, surely this is a question about the venues themselves? Yes, the layout of the venue can contribute to the atmosphere, but what are people's opinions on the actual venues?

Personally, I'm not too keen on the layout of either club. Foundation was too big and too much on one level (ie totally flat dance floor, only small seating area around the edges) though I did get used to it. Digital seems to have a strange layout, and it is quite hard to move freely around the club (you are kind of syphoned off through small areas, such as around the back by the loos, and having to walked round the cage/bars that split the dance floor from the bar area).

For me, Rockshots had a great layout. I loved the fact that it had different levels in both rooms, and the way the seating was set out around the dancefloor, with little sections where you could be with people who were sitting down, but still have room to dance. It felt so much more personal, whereas Foundation felt like an aircraft hanger.

the warm water in the bog says it all.
they just want nice clean people who will dance nicely and not cause any bother and spend as much cash as possible.
I know you have to make money from a club or it will close but if you go somewhere where you feel the owners are in it for the love of it rather than just the cash then you have a better atmosphere. and digital aint got one.

U are a fucking muppet mate. The owners of Foundation sat in Ivory Towers in the Kings Rd. (that's Chelsea dahling) and raped Foundation for cash. When they stopped making it they stripped the venue and closed it down.

Digitals owners on the other hand are people who have clubbed in this City for years.

If you think this is an issue about hot and cold water then I suggest you take a bath in the latter and have a serious word with yourself afterwards.

well you obviously know all about it and I don't. I can't beleive the people who started riverside sat in ivory towers in chelsea or the ones who set up foundation in the first place were .
but you may be right. i am just talking from a punters point of view. or at least from this punters view.
they may have clubbed in newcastle for years but they don't seem able to create a good atmosphere. so i guess they must be muppets too.

this is more a old versus new debate, people will get used to and maybe even love the new, eventually - but at the moment were still grieving

I've thought digitals sound system has swayed me for the past year but then i get the memories of foundation it really is a question of individual memories and experiences imo and neither can be quantified as being better
