I think this forum proves just how brainless todays generation are with money.

Our parents grew up in a world where a single person working a steady job could afford to support a family and buy a house.

Today, a university educated and 'high' earning person can barely afford a one bedroom flat and feed themselves with a few nights out a week.

people are living in dreamland here - 16k is enough to buy property alexander?!?! lol. Whats that in take home salary a month? less than a grand.

our generation are FUCKED as far as money is concerned. Im quite lucky since i earn a decent salary, but i feel sorry for anyone earning an average amount for the country .... a generation of 20+ year olds living in mummy and daddys bedroom with enough money to go out twice a week and think that being able to afford an ipod and the latest mobile phone on contract is some kind of existence.

A large amount of people don't seem to realise the seriousness of missing payments and getting behind on things, it's far too easy to build up huge debts make yourself bankrupt and 6 months later become discharged even though it's supposed to be 12 months, then after another year you can get decent interest rates. It's far too easy these days and far too many people are doing it.

IMO good payers lose out in a sense becasue they pay all their payments pay all the interest, yet those who miss paymetns etc just get it wiped off and end up not paying even the capital they initially borrwed back, yet have all the material goods they bought with the money

I hardly ever have cash to spend on nights out and things I want since getting my house. We spend most spare money on the house. At least I've got something to show for it now rather than pissing it all away

I'd rather have an almost non exisistant social like than be living with my parents though:lol:

People who still live with their parents and complain about being skint all the time really piss me off. They choose to piss their money away. They should go and find something worthwhile to spend it on.

I'm skint all the time because I lump so much of my pay into a savings account.. it's the only way I'll ever afford to move out. :(

Getting a house doesn't mean your life is over. When I lived with my parents I wanted to go out all the time to get away from them. Having your own house means you can do what you want when you want so you don't feel the need to go out all the time.

but when it comes to buying a house you'll be fucked cos you'll have less years to pay off a mortgage meaning that the payments will be stupidly high.ive got a 105 grand house but cos the mortgage is over a lone time i can still go out just not as often as i did when i was 18 and that.To be fair though i dont want to go out as much anyway so ive got the best of both worlds

    have movies/music on loud whenever...

sex all over the house whenever you want is also a big plus!

It doesn't mean I can't have parties though.

When I said I can do what I want I didn't mean going out. I meant general every day can do what I like and don't have answer to anybody

but i'd rather have an extra £500 a month than be able to do those. i can pay for whores and get a travelodge 5 times a month with that.

their is no right or wrong time to move out, you should move out when you feel its the right time, comfortable money and job security. I dont really want to move out and live with mates, i'd rather wait til i get a girlfriend that i want to settle down with.
