lol look @ur post history mate... come clean you work for tokyo. powerhouse looks like it could be the better venue for some dance nights... it has an amazing soundsystem and industrial decor. But thats not rock and roll, you've obviously never been to a gig... Rock and Roll always has been and always will be a dirty, sweaty, grimey affair.
Your being proper stereotypical there joe, all kinds of people, listen to all kinds of music, in all types of places. I would sooner listen to music is a clean nice place that isn't a sweat bin. You were loving it last night Joe including my excellent dancing and the random funny guy in the taxi on the way home, your jsut being an arguementative mother fucker.
alex I was loving the malibu.... I was loving the peeps I came with... I was loving my fashion.... I wasn't loving digital - all different people are entitiled to listen to rock.... but I'll be listening to it elsewhere from now on
funny that but I dont actualy work for Tokyo, I work for British Rail. My point was only being made as a stab at what you said..not Foundation, not Feedback or anything - Im sure they will all do ok in the end. But for you to say "thats where all the cool kids were on Thursday night" was a silly thing to say really wasnt it.. when in reality they were only the cool ones in your eyes - nobody elses!! When I was in there the crowd was exactly the same sort of crowd there was in digital except a lot less of it. I agree with Xanda . You dont have to listen to rock and roll gigs in sweaty crap veunes and its not always going to be like that. They knocked the mayfair down cos it was a shit hole and even the rockers were sick of going there on a friday and no decent bands wanted to play there any more - yes they built the gate in its place - but well before the Gate was even planned the mayfair was on its knees as far as gigs and clubnights were concerned. Yet as soon as they finish this Carling Academy it will attract bands that are worthy of going to see, but somehow I dont think they will be spending money making the decor to look like a sweat hole - do you?. move on..thats all I was saying!
rubbish joe!! why does the venue have to be grotty for it to be good? the cluny is slick and is probs the best live music venue in toon?
don't get me wrong i like it around the back, i personally wudnt go in unless a band was playing, i dont like the front myself
Maybe your right, I went to Digital last night, but I also go to stonelove about once or twice a month - and I go to see the odd band that takes my fancy so I think that gives me the right to have my own opinion on the subject - you might not agree but you are not in charge of what happens in this city as far as indie and rock is concerned lets face facts you are just a voice on a message board that no ones arsed about
where did I say that?!?!?! I said its not suited to rock... i think nights like waxn will be amazing there. just its not my scene anymore
Your right tonight sees the editors partying with queens of noise and a uber cool suprise guest and no its not Ian Brown
