I have never seen a bedroom DJ who can even come close to comparing on technical ability, tune selection, creativity, presence, and of couse that ever ellusive x-factor. [/B][/QUOTE]

Thats coz most ov them copy there style and can never pull it of as good

    Aint you a bedroom DJ?

I suppose I'd class myself as a 'bedroom DJ', sort of. Play one or two gigs here and there, but I'm not resident anywhere (til the Summer ;)) or anything. I'm not shit, and every single gig I've ever played, I've had someone say "Fuckin hell, good set mate", and people asking about what a certain tune is. My tune selection is pretty unique, and IMO, is shit hot! ;)

Look at what happened to Paul Hillyer a few years back. He was a bedroom DJ, and he was shit hot, won a competition then rocketed, playing before AND after Sasha @ Cream's Brixton Academy party on Millennium Eve.

In actual fact, the 'bedroom', and lesser known DJs of this world, tend to work a hell of a lot more than the big names.

Yeah, maybe, but because their name's more known don't mean they gotta stop workin as hard.

Not saying the bedroom DJ's I know are shit mate. Lee at times can be amazing and Che is consistently excellent. I've heard Bigdave play some really good sets as well. I'm at Vuzz every week and Sunday Trading regularly and I think very few of the DJ's who have played there have been shit.

Just trying to point out that the Picotto's and Tiesto's have worked hard to get where they are, are extremely talented and more than deserve their status.

I've heard some awesome DJ's down at Egypt Cottage but nothing comes close to Tiesto or Picotto!

I have. Last Saturday night I was at the Lemon Lounge (Liverpool) to see Sonny Wharton. Admittedly he isn't a 'bedroom' DJ, but he isn't a name... ... yet. I have never heard such a set in my life from a relatively 'unknown' he would have wiped the floor with a hell of a lot of 'big' DJs that night.

Wouldn't have called a Renaissance and Manumission resident a bedroom DJ like, but I see where you're coming from

I only class people as Manumission resident if they play in the main room all summer due the fact that over the course of the summer it seem anyone with records in Ibiza gets to play in the backroom or inside @ space.

Ok I just been informed he didn't, but he's still fucking quality, and 'Manumission resident' is still nice to have on the CV ;)

You will get something just keep asking. Ask Kanya for a day shift job, ask The Garden of Eden for the odd morning slot. Make a shit load of CDs showcasing yourself before you go with your mobile number on them & dish them out.
Try the West End it did Rob Orton no harm, it did Jon Constaine (Spelling) no harm, it did Jon Ulysess (Spelling) no harm, etc etc......the people who fail in Ibiza are the ones who think they will be playing PACHA after a week on island.

OH & GET YOUR RECORDS INSURED!
