If Steven Hawking, a number of good experiments and the best model of the universe ever concieved can't make Joe think he's wrong, we've got no chance mate :(

lol you're a typical arrogant gentile.

You're citing English translations and attempting to speak with authority on a text you couldn't begin to comprehend, lets look at the days:

    day 3:

You're quoting just one of the english translations, the hebrew is: "Veyamar elohaim tadshe haaretz deshe eshev mazriah zere etz peri ose pri lemino asher zaro bo", the hebrew words for tree and seed can be applied to a much broader spectrum of plant... it could arguably be used to describe the first funghi (we know of) that developed over 1.3 billion years ago.

    day 4:

It does not mention the creation of the sun, it mentions appearance of the sun... again if you can't read hebrew (nevermind biblical hebrew) why are you attempting to interpret the Torah?

    day 5

Archaeopteris existed long before birds

I can't stand arrogant pricks like yourself forks, you're attempting to disprove a text you've never even read? How can you possibly comment on that you don't understand?

i don't see how people can take the bible as truth - old or new testament

    it's not.

if you must have some sort of justification in life believe in/follow something thats NOT claiming it created/owns the world - just it lives in harmony with it - Buddhism

At least most Christians have the decency to admit that the old testament and all it's stuff about not eating shellfish and killing the gays is not strictly accurate

there's nothing to suggest the universe wasn't created... you wont find one cosmologist that would say the universe wasn't created... they may have their own theories on conception of the universe - but no sane scientist will rule out the possibility of creation as to rule something out without disproving its validity contradicts science.

Using the theory that best fits observational data is science.

what does that have to do with the debate at hand? I stated that science does not permit one to state something as fact unless he can support that claim.

I'm not defining science, I can read a dictionary for the correct definition... I'm merely commenting on MoS post.

    Leviticus blah.

"You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."
    Lev. 18:22

"If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them."
    Lev. 20:13

11.21-23 “Yet these may you eat of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, those which have legs above their feet, by which to leap on the earth. Even these of them you may eat; the locust after its kind, and the bald locust after its kind, and the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. But all winged creeping things, which have four feet, are an abomination to you.”

11.41-42 “And every creeping thing which creeps on the earth is an abomination; it shall not be eaten. Whatever goes on the belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creeping things that creep on the earth, them you shall not eat, for they are an abomination.” = crab.

science accepts that there is a lot it doesn't know and can't explain

religion states it's position as fact without giving any proof

just accepting that we don't know everything yet is a much smaller step than saying there's 1 supreme being that created us - thats blatantly human arogance once again

You can't tell intelligent people that this is what you believe happened, and expect them to just take it without questioning it, against all experimental and observational data?

I love it when you attempt to tell me what the torah states, the only laws which govern the gentiles are:

    Prohibition of idolatry
    Prohibition of blasphemy
    Prohibition of murder
    Prohibition of theft
    Prohibition of illicit relations
    Prohibition of eating live meat
Prohibition of failing to establish courts of justice

All the other halakhic laws the Torah speaks of are set aside for the Jew.... Quit while you're behind andy.

science vs religion christ what a battle

Religion is full of holes imo and science is only just begining to understand the world and universe around us so neither have a valid claim it would be easier to hold our hand up and say we no bot all at least science is trying to learn rather than basing there claims on stories and ideas that are ever so slightly out of date !

How is it science verse religion... everything science has learnt in recent years compliments what the Jews have been teaching their kids for years.

my PERSONAL beliefs are that religion is bullshit.

    the SCIENCE stance is different.

    i wouldn't say i'm arogant, intolerant maybe... ;)
