Ya do have to wonder dont ya.... when like you say video evidence shows the head butt by Figo and shows the push by Rooney.

Wants the point of having power to intervene if you aint gunna use em when clearly injustice has been done! :fuming:

Referees need to sort emselves out!!

Doesnt detract from the fact we had one of the best squads there but the tactics were completely wrong!!
At least we have a manager who knows how it feels to have St George in ya heart!!

He wasn't sent off for a push though, he was sent off for the stamp, and whether or not youse see it as bad enough to be sent off for the referree did, and the only reason Figo didn't get a suspension was because the ref booked him during the game and fifa decided to leave it at that, it's pretty consistant if you ask me, on both cases fifa have let the refs have the final say.

i think the figo headbutt showed how disgraceful fifa are... yes the ref gave a yellow which meant he had been punished and therefore that is the end of it...

...however it wasnt a bad tackle or handbags... it was a headbutt. what kind of message does it send to kids watching that you can headbutt and get away with little punishment.

fifa are weak and some of the refereeing has been shambolic in this tournament... they really need to send reliable refs in (and not just a quota from each continent) and let them know exactly what is expected and punish the ones who fail to do their jobs.

england were dissapointing, but other teams have had games ruined by refs who want the limelight themselves... good refs should be almost invisible, not strutting around.

if u want to believe that press statement then ur playing into the hands of fifa

end of day, the referee booked rooney for his reaction to ronaldo, you can clearly tell by his body language

by the laws of the game, if a player stamps on a nother player its an immediate red card, watch and referee issue a red card when he has witnessed a stamp and then watch the referee when rooney 'stamped' on carvallho. The referee blew for the foul and then stood by the ball signalling the way the foul had gone (first of all it should have been a foul on rooney where he was fouled about 3 times prior to the incident) if the referee had witynessed a stamp he would have straight away issued a red card instead of standing there. the portugese players then reacted and rooney becamse involved with ronaldo where he pushed him ,it was only then you can see the referees body language change and him start to fluster and that is where he began to think about booking rooney which is where he sent him off

even though the ref said in his post match interview and report that he sent rooney off for the stamp he didnt actually make that decision untill after the game after seeing tv replays which affected his post match report

fifa decided not to intervene with the figo incident because they claimed that the referee had booked figo for the headbutt

im sorry but ti doesnt take a genious to work out that when figo headbutted the opposing player the referee had his back turned and wasnt even looking at the incident, he was dealing with something else, he booked figo for being a nuisance during the incident, quite harsh u think, but considering the other booking in the game seems quite fair

fifa (or blatter) decided not to intervene because he wanted to give portugal best chance of winning, portugal without deco cosinho ronaldo (considered unavailabloe at the time) and figo probably wouldnt have standed a chance

ppl may seem that unlikely that blatter wud be so biased against england but the italian football scandal makes u think otherwise

its quite well knwon blatter doeasnt like england (his comments about the team during the tournament about being boring - highly unproffesional and quite untrue) and if the italian fa can be that corrupt im pretty sure memebers of fifa can be as well

anyway wats done is done and im glad that germany are out too haha

    big fuck you to blatter!

    apologies for the disertation

I've watched the replays and imo rooney meant it, so whether or not Ronaldo altered his decision, which i don't think he did, it was still a sending off.

He didnt even look were he was putting his foot ! Secondly he didnt put his foot all the way down he felt carvalihos rock on and then pulled his foot away if you go to stamp on someone you would also contort your face in anger rooneys eyes and expression never changes hes trying to win the ball he did stand on carvaliho but imo it wasnt intentional you can tell by the reaction to the red card as well he looked on in disbelief knowing he hadnt deliberatley stood on the bguy ! the shove on ronaldo was what promted the ref . Rooney shouldnt hev done that either but hey shit happens onwards and upwards Come on Zizou lets see some french flair and italian er hair in the final !
