we weren't robbed this time...we weren't good enough

we were crap to be honest...barely looked like scoring before rooney was sent off

don't think he deserved the red but was it for acidently stamping on that blokes balls or for shoving ronaldo who was trying to get him carded

several portugese players should've been booked for diving...by the time it had ended some should've walked for 2 bookings for divings

end of the day tho we didn't play to our potential

lampard, gerrard & carragher's penalties were crap

    big bag of bollocks

    robbed? they where god awful...

portugal where far the more rounded, competent side and played much better football from the get go they just lacked the attacking finish.. england where as scrappy, disorganised and generally woeful as they have been all through the tournament..

the only saving grace was hargreaves who ran his socks off..

i think we did well to save ourselves from complete humiliation in the next round..

Portugal dominated that match, I'm suprised no one got a hatrick.

Some of their tackles were amazing and they are all very fast.

    Rooneys hack was abismal.

exactly, he stood on the player, it wouldn't have made any difference is Ronaldo had said anything anyways, its a straight sending off.

haha they didnt dominate, far from it. argentina dominated against s+m... but just like portugal, england had enough attacks to win outright but yet again were let down by poor passing in the final third and indecision + scrappy play... for the players we have it was another very poor performance.

portugal were hardly sensational as was proved when they couldnt break us down. they certainly didnt dominate that match though, domination suggests one-sidedness.

i still am not convinced rooneys kick was intentional, he was facing the wrong way and fighting his way from of two challengers... stamps happen, its a contact sport.

How the fook did he deserve to walk?? It was a foul on Rooney in the first place, Rooney never thrust his leg he was fighting for the ball and then all he did was push sum 1 in the chest causing the player no injury. A yellow card for the push wud have been the right thing to do but a straight red for a pussy push fuck off!

What you've got to remember is that portugal did score a goal but the ref was so bias that he played the offside card.

Time and time again it just goes to prove that portugal were the better team, they were running rings round us for the entire match and if the ref wasn't so overly harsh against them they would have stole it from under our noses.

Oh and there is no way I'll ever be supporting england again after that performance - I should have known they wouldn't win anyway.

Next tournament I'm going to wait to see who the better teams are before i choose who I want to support.

i dont think we were watching the same match!

the ref certainly wasnt biased in favour of england, he gave niggly fouls against england constantly... hargreaves and terry were 2 victims + the portuguese goal was a good yard offside, the ref blew early and the english players stopped, robinson didnt even go to save the ball... so that hardly indicates dominance.

if the ref was going to be biased in favour of england why did he send rooney off? or why didnt he give lennon that penalty appeal (which was a fair tackle, but im sure you see my point).

portugal had more shots and a bit more posession, but thats to be expected after a team goes down to 10 men. before the sending off it was a scrappy affair with each side having spells of dominance... when lennon came on the game swung englands way and we were dictating the rhythm and tempo... the sending off ensured portugal would have more posession but we still created and in fairness either side could have won... hence why it went to penalties.

id never expect a statement like that from you rossy mate!

i support england because im english, i cant chop and change teams even when i want to... id support us still if we were bottom of the rankings. besides, on your logic you'd be supporting brazil if you went for the better pre-tournament teams... they were just as dissapointing as england... and argentina and spain played the best footy when it kicked off yet went home early...

by englands standards it was poor, and sven has to shoulder blame for years of bad tactics and bizarre selecions... we have some excellent players and we will always be contenders. we were unlucky but we'll be back for the euro's in 2 years and world cup in 4
