Glad you didn't get the job of promoting the night then or we'd be long gone! :p

At least I had the vision to realise 3 years ago what you lot are all saying in 2005, that the cottage will never sustain the numbers and allow a night to grow (due to (a) location) (b) poor sound system and (c) the restrictive hours)

I am laughing at all the discussion around flyer costs , freebies and such stuff and have come to the conclusion that all "promoters" are in it for the money and fringe beenfits

So how do you become a full time promoter, ie make a living from it, without being concerned about numbers, costs etc? How can you even be a part-time promoter without having at least some concern for covering your costs, unless you have bottomless pockets?

You seem to have some idea that those who make money from it, or are even concerned about money, are in it for the wrong reasons and are somehow morally bankrupt in comparison to those who don't, which is completely untrue and unfair. I'd call it sensible.

I really don't see what whoever turning down whatever has to do with anything!

Here are some FACT's for you dave.......

FACT - Vuzz DID sustain a regular night at Egypt Cottage and we still would had it not been for the trouble with the flyers

FACT - Nobody in there right mind would pay money out of their own pocket to line the pockets of someone else

FACT - If we care so little about putting on a good party why the fuck did we spend 3.5k on new equipment for mono to get the soundsystem up to scratch...Ben Lost, Goldenscan, Richard Tulip, have all said they've played in clubs with worse setups!

FACT - If we only care about money and not the local scene why are we 1) bringing DJ's to the area who otherwise would probably never play here, 2) giving our LOCAL lads the chance to play alonside some fairly established names.

FACT - You have not actually been to one of our parties (at Mono) so therefore are in no position to comment on it at all

FACT - I don't owe you, your brother, or any of the Detox crew any thanks for anything...you are not the oracles of Newcastle's club scene

FACT - I have no idea why I am taking the time to reply to the rubbish your coming out with when there are only about two arse kissers on here who actually take any notice of anything you say

well said, i agree with you.

this arguement is getting silly though. basically, the cottage is a rather poor venue for putting a night on FACT. you guys should stop dissing each others promoting ethics, everyone works differently. although paul has just made some very fair comments

Why does everything you post have to be trying to wind people up and get a rise? Dave, I know I've known you for years, but it even pisses me off. Every post you make looks like you are trying to take the moral high ground on promoting. It's annoying.

paul and ybnb if yous are that botherd about each others ethics on promting instead of a dj comp why dont you have a promoter comp both of yous put a night on on the same night and see who comes out on top

but be warned this is the attitude that kills local nights are even big nights

name the time and the place (in the future) and I will do it

look man its all just a laugh at the end of the day.

I think you lot should take a good look at yourselves before you start sitting in some ivory tower amd making out you never pass asides about everyone elses nights.

when someone writes "tongue in cheek" after a post does that not make you realise it is TONGUE IN CHEEK!

what kills local nights is not healthy banter but taking yoursleves too seriously !!!!!!!!!!
