If you want tapas, go to El Torero.

I'm not really a fan of Torero - it always seems to end up costing about the same as it would've been to have a main course and drinks at Cafe 21 or somewhere

The foods alright in a Tapas kind of a way, but it's not really excellent.

Absolutely. They're OK if there isn't any other choice, but I have a thing against eating in major chains with no individuality between the franchises.

I do to, and I can't quite explain it logically.

If I'm going out for a meal, I like to have something that has had a bit of creativity behind it, is freshly prepared and is different to what I can have at home, and has at least a slight twist on what is available anywhere else. Chain restaurant food all too often resembles ready meals.

Don't get me wrong, some are actually quite nice, but I'd prefer to go somewhere individual.

The whole 'diner' food makes sense in places like America where its cheap enough to not think of it as some kind of event worth making an effort for.

But i wouldnt go there out of choice normally,.... considering it comes out the back of a freezer truck and into a microwave or deep fat frier for reheating, and then stuck on a plate and served up.

I'd rather cook at home, or go to somewhere where you know actual chefs have taken time to pick and prepare food - and not just been trained on a load of automated short order machines.
