    i scored 10

They should have had a "social drink at the pub" and "getting hammered with your mates" option though

I think its all shock tactics and sensationalism. 99% of people know their limits and when its starting to get too much for them.

I meant in the long term, but i suppose it can be addictive. All im getting at is that website points score is very unrealistic. Apparently i drink more than 96% of the population or something, i can assure you i dont.

In the long term?.... you see people in their 30's/40's/50's doddering around hammered out their heads just as much as you see people in their 20's.

Face it - we collectively have a drink problem.

I don't believe its really getting as bad as is being stated though, its just the same as ever imo.

I think its the media trying to prevent 24 hr drinking to be honest, plastering pictures of mortal teenagers all over the news.

In most of Europe, drinking is more associated with eating, ie you drink with a meal. Kids are brought up to see this, and often start with small amounts of wine at a far younger age than here. Drinking is therefore seen as something that goes with socialising and food, rather than going out and getting as pissed as possible with your mates when your parents aren't looking.

We do have a massive drinking problem as a nation, and I suspect the health service will be in the shit in a few decades time because of it....

I can't think of another country where people go and buy cheap spirits to drink in the house before they go out, to keep he cost of getting wrecked down....

If thats what you think - your living in denial.

The past ten years, things have gotten MUCH MUCH worse. Wind yourself back to 1995 when there were barely any Lads mags, radio dj's and television stars promoting drinking... and the whole concept of 'Laddete' had yet to be invented.

The early nineties were a far cry from where we are now with our attidudes to drinking and getting trollied.

Its now socially acceptible to be drunk and rowdy these days - which if you think about it.... is shocking.

getting ratarsed has been a pastime for humans for as long as alcohol has been available

i disagree, i dont think it has just become or is acceptable.

alcoholics have been in society for centuries/thousands of years

the village drunk is a repeating story in history

yes agreed but over 80% of the population now drink enough to be classed alcoholics it never used to be like this, the sheer amount of new bars opening all the time shows that the demand is still high for booze and people drink far more now than they used too
  18. Guest

so the men are drinking what they have for centuries and its just the women "laddette's" that are geting worse???

alcohol is and has always been an integral part of society imo

its used to relax and destress us from the boring and mundane lives that most of society live.

its not a bad thing in moderation but there will and always has been people who take it to far.who cant handle it or plain just likes been mortal drunk.

Drinking is good in moderation but people are going out getting PISHED 3 or 4 nights a week, Why can people not enjoy a few pints or a glass of wine instaed of 15 pints or a bottle of vodka, If you think things have not gotten wprse then your deluded, Explain the 40% increase in YOUNG people liver and kidney damage? Are our livers just getting weaker?
