A big gripe i have is with DJ's who download and then play out

As a DJ you are either in it to a) get laid and be famous or b) because you love the music you play.

if you = a) then you are beyond hope and will get nowhere so I am not arsed

but if you = b) then how can you have the guile to say to me that you 'love the music man' because if you did then you would want the artists to get their rewards out of it which in turn will allow them to continue outputting amazing tracks.

Plus another thing that pisses me off is the amount of people who say 'yeah I got it on CDR'.

No you didnt  you got it off Soulseek

99% of artists only send CDR's to the DJ's who are going to get them some coverage , not the ones who just play down a rubbish bar once a month.

And putting CDR after every other track in your chart DOES NOT make you look cool

Actually I do mind paying £10 for 4 pints of lager. Especially if they've been watered down.

CD-R is meant to signify "the label" not the format

If im honest i hate people stealing music, i buy all my music legally and a lot of bands/prducers are getting hit really hard by all the thieving pikeys out there who refuse to pay for goods, In my eyes its not better tna shoplifting a CD people just think its less of a crime cos its harder to get caught

Basically downloading is illegal if you get court your fucked.

Live sets aren't illegal because the place it was performed at would have had a performance license which goes to the PRS. Which gets shared between its members.

I'm gonna fucking wade right into this one like... :D

    1) By copying mate's cassettes and cd's when I were a nipper to tape, and by later copying mate's cd's, and then downloading mp3's from t'internet, I have found out about hundred's of small and lesser-known bands/artists. The one's I like have then got my money by me forking out for their cd's, buying their t-shirts, and paying to get into their gigs. If I had to waste my money straight away buying cd's without hearing them, I'd only have bought cd's from well-known, well-publicised bands. If everyone did that, we'd only listen to what we were told to, and loads of great talent would not get off the ground.

    2) People sharing music is not killing the industry. People either playing pirated music out when DJ'ing, or selling pirate cd's for profit, etc - is damaging the industry.

    3) It is illegal. So is lot's of stuff that the preacher's in this thread do that isn't related to this subject. Life/law isn't fair. But I'd rather have the freedom of choice.
