im not, theft is theft whatever the circumstances

Im not saying i dont / have never downloaded anything, but id much rather do it properly.

If you cant afford to buy vinyl then why would you buy decks in the first place ?

I agree people who buy decks etc and cdjs should have to pay for the music. What about us who just want a little boogie in their bedrooms whilst getting ready :cry2:

    This is Ridiculous!

im not going to Deny that i download music, as i do. But no way am i going to pay nearly £20 for an album which i only want a few songs from!

The stuff i download is only for my personal use at home, i suppose im destroying the music industry by playing a track on my pc:rolleyes:

I would say dj sets are different, you can't extract a track from there as they're mixed in with something else (or should be!) and both the artists and labels concerned realise this - also the dj who has played it has been given the right to it by the artist and so can put it in a mix, as this does not infringe the artists copyright in the same way.

    Peter:

I wouldn't say it's trying to keep on top of things musically. If you're not in a position to get a piece of music - because the artist concerned has not given you the permission to own that yet - then what gives you the right to take that piece of music for yourself?

It's the same as going into HMV and stealing a single from the stockroom before it's on the shelf - and when they ask you why, you did it saying "Well it's not out for another week yet, and I wanted it". Basically you would be a thief.

If you don't see it this way then that's fine, but how you can claim to like and support the music scene when you steal from it on a regular basis I do not understand.

Personally i really dont have a problem with paying £1 for a track, and i cant really see how people still choose break the law over something so cheap.

i cant condemn people for downloading sets though cos i do it all day every day

not all tracks are released as digital downloads, so how do people listen to tracks that were only released on vinyl without decks?

So should only DJs have to pay for music then?

Actually, I'm going to be selling LEGAL downloads soon too :D
  16. Guest

£1 a track soon adds up to alot of money, which i dont have alot of.

im not a dj but i am a music lover

if i can get something for free, i'll get it

it makes no sense paying for something when you can get it for free IMHO

    :D

this subject has been talked about alot of times, just leave it be!

theres no way they can stop 'Everyone' from downloading, because lets face it, over half of the population do it!

exactly, not everyone has the time to dj, some people work too much so they aren't gonna go out and buy some decks, then pay £8 for a record that they might only have a couple of yours at night to play, when they can download ripped version of the track and throw it on their mp3 player.
this is not what i do before people start winging, just to stress the point i buy all my mp3s and vinyl, im just showing things from other peoples point of view :)

no but my main point has been that not every track acually makes it to digital download, alot of good tracks are only released on vinyl, so the only way people who dont have decks can listen to it is if sumone ripps the track from vinyl and puts it to share :)
