i think my point is that its all fine and well saying let people listen to what they want to and i do firmly agree that that is how it should be. What the knock on effect of that all is though is that any genre where this occurs, amounts to the said genre becoming overun with the same old tracks and as a whole all the good tracks become so much farer and fewer between due to the dilution of talent and creativity.

Now surely no one can say THAT is a good thing can they?

How many people have listened to 'pure dance' on sky? its a radio channel. OMG i can't believe how limited the tunes are. Tiesto's adagio is #1 atm and it seems to play the same songs every hour. Even sheep would get sick. Come to think of it, i dont even bother listening to the common radio stations anymore or watching sky music channels as its all the same mainstream stuff and i got sick of it. 'Trance' is never trance on MTV Dance either. It's always a mix of the same tunes that are overplayed everywhere.

I like to listen to Digitally Imported in WM/Winamp however as you get sets played and theres a canny choice of trance/hardhouse/techno blah blah :) But i still can't name tunes for shit.

Thats stupid, theres only one type of music

    and thats good music.

Just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad. All music takes great skill and talent to create, people should realise this.

I meant music that gets released, not music that is created while people are on there learning curve.

Yeah I don't like them either but I respect them as producers because them make good songs that lots of people like to a very high standard of production.

I used to be and elitist like you thinking everything in the charts was cheese and trance was the best music ever and everything else was shit, but I've grown up now and realise how hard it is to put together a track, never mind ones that people lke and enjoy.

i couldnt give a shit what music people like. personally i like various kinds of music and genres. there are things i dont like but i would never think myself better than anyone else with different tastes.

at least the mods and rockers used to beat the shit out of each other instead of pissing and moaning on message boards... :cool2:

'music knowledge' is wholly subjective, and probably pointless.

You either like what you like and pursue it at your own pace. As much as i have a pair of decks and i like playing around on them, i dont feel even 1% as knowledgeable as some of the people on here. Having said that i dont really give a stuff because i can go out and enjoy what i enjoy, and not need to worry about whether or not someone approves.

Either way tho - the fact that every person on here chooses to involve themselves into a musical subculture is admirable anyways - Lets face it, dance music isnt exactly the easiest music to be part of without making an effort and thats something we should at leave give a nod to each other about.

can i just add, all music that's released is 'good music' because somewhere along the lines, someone thought it was good and decided to release it, if they thought it was bad, they wouldnt.

just because its bad for you doesnt mean its bad for someone else... the purpouse of it is to be enjoyed. so if someone enjoyed it at some point, it there for has to be 'good music'

read his post!! whether he likes it or not doesnt matter, what hes saying is that someone down the line thought it was good enough to release, making it a good track to them :)
