alcohol is an awful club drug. It brings out the worst in people. a club full of drunks listening to dance music is the worst. aggression just ruins everybodies night. I think it would be great if people were breathalysed going in and knocked back if they were drunk

But some people don't get aggressive when they're drunk! And some people still get aggressive on drugs.

    you plank

I've been absolutely mortal probably 99% of times I've set foot in a club and I've never once caused any kind of agro to anyone and I'm definitely not the only person.

The apparent increase in agro is more likely down to charvers doing in loads of coke which they once couldnt afford.

the saying goes 'if you lay down with dogs, dont complain when you catch fleas' or something similar...

... if your going to clubs with a large element of unsavories - then its an occupational hazard.

The solution is to go places where they dont go, or where they arent let in. Or to just go there and understand you take RISKS when you do it.

Obviously its terrible when something bad happens of course.

the way I look at it is this - the two biggest havens for the charv masses (ikon and the boat) have gone the way of the dodo, hence the number of them going everywhere else.

now this shitty stealth place is open hopefully it'll distract them away from digital

i'm not saying it makes everybody aggressive and obviously someone as superior as you would not be affected by any drug. however, generally the effect of alcohol is to make aggressive people act out their aggression. coke has a similar effect I agree but short lived. Other drugs don't do that. and whilst you may feel that alcohol makes you charming witty and attractive it aint necessarily so

get a grip mate - stealth isnt shit - far from it, its the best small/medium venue i've seen in newcastle since the playrooms

as for this thread... well... jesus christ, its like reading the elitist book of clubland snobbery...

we never have any trouble at regeneration vs judgement day and thats got a good mix of charvers, house heads and drum n bass types (upstairs you can slap the biggest hardest looking bloke, get him in a headlock and jump about like a lunatic and they just laugh and jump about too)... so its clearly not a factor who is there... the fucking winging and moaning about charvers on here is pissing me right off...

i've been working as a technician in clubs for the last three and a bit years in leicester, foundation and DIGITAL and I see more fights, vandalism and debauchery at student nights than charver nights, or any other night for that matter... and when you do get trouble at trance or hardhouse events, it's still just one or two people out of a large majority of normal, happy clubbers... so what that digital is putting on more hardhouse and trance nights??? you know what? thats what the majority of people in the northeast are into...

realistically, who ACTUALLY thought digital would stay as exclusive as it tried to be at first? the sheer size of it means you HAVE to fill the place to keep it going and uphold its reputation as one of the busiest and liveliest nightspots.

no offence whatsoever to the lass that had something happen, but just because she's part of the forum doesnt make it a regular thing. it was unfortunate, it shouldnt of happened, but it did, and it happened to her. of course stuff happens when you've got 1200 people mortal drunk in a nightclub, and its much more likely to happen than somewhere like cosmic which only holds 400 or something... its about three times more likely to happen...

    what do you expect?

try going to the new monkey and then winge about digital's security and crowd

oh aye, the arena gig will be charver tastic, but i bet you its fucking good fun... and if you have 3000+ people in one place on drink and drugs - well, theres bound to be some trouble isnt there - its to be expected, but these people are going to see music acts that they like and enjoy, regardless of your opinion. really, you should respect that.

come on people, be realistic about this...

also, the problem is not booze, the problem IS the few individuals. Don't tar "charver-types" with the same scallywag brush, easy as that is to do... sounds like middle class snobbery to me.
