I have never had any real trouble, even though I look like a knob and dress in metro clothes. I took a couple of mates from uni to Promise a few years back, introduced them to a couple of members from this board (no names mentioned), who then gave them a dirty look and asked me why I was hanging around with charvers (my mates were in polo tops and dark jeans). My reply was that these 'charvers' were really good mates of mine, who also happened to be studying for a Master of Physics at Newcastle Uni, which soon shut them up. Not every one in a stripey jumper is a meathead, and not everyone with a pseudo mullet with blonde highlights is empathetically open minded. For example, I got started on at Future Music festival (Brisbane) on Saturday for simply brushing past someone. He looked like your typical indie kid (albeit about 6 foot 6), long curly hair, The Who t-shirt etc, and surprise surprise, he turned out to be English - we love starting on people for some reason, its the English and Irish way. A simple "Soz mate" sufficed, and he was really friendly when I said I was from Newcastle (which is always the case with Brits and the Irish). My quick capsule review, there are good and bad people in all walks of life.
