hmmm i must say one more thing, as much as mixing is concerned...........

Im a DJ myself, and without bragging or coming across as a big head i would say my beat matching is seamless....

to say the top dj's that frequent promise cant beat match or mix to save their life is such a PROGGY statement.
    why???
...because although mr giles you are rigth about the fact that a dj should take you on a journey etc and create sex on the dancefloor via aural stimulation, you have forgotten one major thing EVERY DJ needs to remember, and which EVERY DJ at Promise does remember......that is - A DJ IS AN ENTERTAINER - its his/hers job, passion and life. Which means, that they dont have to create one long huge seamless progressive track which never slips a beat and sounds the same all the way through!!

I mean can you imagine all the clubbers in promise standing around tapping their feet and thinking "is that beat gonna drop, oh no hes gonna lose it...........no no hes not, very well done!!!!"

i prefer some excitement, we arent hear to pick out whether a beat is out or whatever, we are hear to see a DJ perform, enjoy the music they play and dance!!!!!!!!

we are not critics!!!!! like you!! so go back to yer farm and moan with yer cows!!! squeal at yer pigs, bark at your dogs and criticise yer cockrels for waking you up in the morning.....

WE WANT TO HAVE FUN!!!!!!! and we are having it!

now, enough of the ranting and lets have more of the raving!!

    :D

    PS...

Have you ever noticed MR Giles that certain areas of the UK have different clubs, and in those different clubs have different music policies.

Each club has its own sound, which moves, changes, PROGRESSES, and develops....... now as your post is titled -

    Developments @ Promise

--- Promise has DEVELOPED (which means changed and improved) its own sound. hmmmm, shame you dont like it......

go to cream, move to Liverpool........

sorry your the only ONE that has a very narrow mind.....
if u havent noticed already, everyone on this board enjoys a bit of every style of dance music......not just PROGRESSIVE...

Apologies - have to reiterate one point before I shut up.

Farmer Giles, you quite rightly say that some of the clubs in Sheffield, Liverpool and the like run successful progressive nights. However, as I said they have better catchment areas than up here, ie more people concentrated in the same sized area. Therefore all clubs are likely to do better as there are more people who can go. Up here the number of clubbers is much lower, as there are less people in general. Population density and all that.

Blimey, look what I miss when I spend a morning working! lol

I think that this is all pretty daft. This argument has been going on for years and still will be when we are all 70 odd.

Live and let live, that's what I say. As peeps who know me know, I would prefer to hear Sasha over Scott but that does not make either of them better or more talented, it's just my choice. I still love hearing all sorts of DJs because verity is the spice of life (mine anyway).

To put either trance heads or prog heads down because of their preference is daft isn't it?

I think that Promise is a good balanced night, the peeps are nice and it's not 100% trendy peeps or 100% cyber peeps. It's just a good mix of people and music in a great club.

Funnily enough I have a lot of friends who used to like house music but would now say that ALL trance, house, prog, hard house, garage etc is cheesy and naff. Maybe we should try to focus on how similar our tastes are not how different?

    :)

Agreed. I like many types of music (not just dance either). I just can't stand it when people get snobby, hence the slightly heated discussion.
