As always, O'Bir was well on form! In fact all the DJ's were good. I can't believe more people didn't take advantage of seeing one of the best trance DJ's for a fiver!

    Top night! :D

I would just like to say this was the most surreal gig i have ever been involved in promoting.

Never before have I been involved ina night where half the people who have paid to see the dj , actually sat outside chilling when he was tearing it up inside.

a big thank you to all the people who helped promote this , Earl Grey (how was the wickerman gig man) , jungle (NOW IN AFRICA) ,

all the people who helped set up - especially granty who moved mountains on saturday getting the phoenix ready,

and all the people who helped with rigging etc...

especially man of science (YOU ARE STAR)

and Static for djing after just having stepped off a plane from IBIZA.

and last but by no means least , GEORDIE LEE, BILLY and the banter of CRAZI JIMMI, ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

set highlights of the night for me were steve smiths trance set (is there no end to this mans talents) and the 2nd half of OBIRS set which was legendary

cant believe Jimmi told Jon that he reminded him of a mel gibson in braveheart

I cant mention enough how sound Jon , and his entourage are, some of the nicest people I have ever met in clubland

    :)

    Cheers for the lift too.

I've got a digital rip of Jules show if you wanna re-live those Detox moments again.

Let me know and I'll upload it/stick it on CD. Whichever is easier for you.

Lee, i was going to give you a lift home man , but when i came to find you , youd already gone home on the bus

aye listening to the radio onthe way up was a proper waynes world moment like,

the bit where we were going "WELL IF IT ALL GOES TITS UP at least we can say we got namechecked on radio 1" then this message comes over the radio from one of the listeners " we are all off to OBIR at DETOX @ the phoenix its going to be a MESSY one" I nearly crashed the car I was laughing so much

apologies to maccas for the raver who fried his head all the way home to town. I know not who, where he is from

big direspect to the highways agency who fucking closed the road at 2am in the morning and i was driving the wrong way up the dual carriageway til i realised, OOPS

and apologies for nearly killing crazy jimmy going the wrong way down a one way steeet in town yesterday

well when the owners of the venue decide to lock the windows so that the police cant hear the music you know its going to be a sweat box

the problem with alleged trance fans is that they talk a good night out on the net and in reality never turn up

THE REAL FANS showed up and the gig was mentioned 3 times on radio 1 and not many can say that

youd have to be pretty potless to not afford 5-6 quid entry on the door and 1 or 2 pints would have cost like 3 quid and the way BOB was dishing out the smurfs it was freebies al neet , plus there were enough cars gannin on route for people to get there for very little if they wanted.
Still crazi jimmy and the like made it a night to remember
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
The conclusion I have come to (and its hardly a surprise) is that theres an awful lot of people talk up a good night out and swan about as if they know how to put nights on but when it comes down to it there are very few people who can pull off nights regularly with any kind of success and there are many more internet warriors who think they know what they are talking about but REALLY talk absolute gash

this might come as a shock but in reference to the mighty trance giant that was PROMISE (& from which this board rose), imo it wasnt the beer boys that killed it , twas the fickle and fashion conscious nature of the clubs "loyal" following, which when it came down to it really wasnt that loyal at all and despite banter to the contrary really only turn out when a huge name is / was on and they basically chase after the brand culture of clubland like godskitchen , gatecrasher and good greef
