DETOX ALCHEMY – A Stately Home Rave!
Reported by Charlie Gardner on September 11, 2009

    DETOX ALCHEMY – Saturday 26th September 2009
Saturday 26th September 2009, sees the return of those that dare to be different host probably their strongest line up to date in none other than an Edwardian stately home in a secret location in Northumberland near to Newcastle upon Tyne.
If you have been to a Detox event you will know that the Detox crew are not ones for pursuing the conventional route. If you haven’t been then where the hell have you been hiding? Having thrown events in medieval castles, old style cinemas, art centres, outward bound youth hostels (complete with assault courses), a disused fire station (right next door to a police station) (we kid you not) and even on a river cruiser that sailed up and down the River Tyne, Detox recently celebrated 8 years of hosting events in and around the North East of England with a huge bash in the mothballed Tyne Tees television studios (former home to the legendary show that was the Tube), with the likes of John ‘00’ Fleming, John Askew and Rodi style all waxing lyrical about the bizarre and unique approach that Detox take to staging their events.

For the impending DETOX “Alchemy” expect the unexpected. Who could forget Amber D. dj’ing on a billiard table? or K90 dj-ing alongside Ed Real in the conservatory where the sound got so loud it blew a couple of windows out!?!?? Hell, at one event Gods kitchen favourite, Jon O’Bir even got asked for his passport and the Organ Donors thought they could find the fabled land of Narnia by playing hide and seek in the wardrobe of the master bedroom. Detox events have been described as like a cross between Rave Cluedo and Byker grove on acid, so it’s no surprise that they’ve grabbed 2nd top night of the north yet again in this month’s issue of mixmag.
The line up for the 26th September reads like a who’s who of hard dance with a plethora of the Detox collective’s favourite acts in attendance:

    Detox presents Alchemy – Saturday 26th September 2009: 7pm – 3am.

Featuring LAB 4 (Live), Organ Donors (Live), Ed Real, Mark Eg, Rodi Style, Jon O’bir, Static, Steve Smith, Chris Hutchinson, Kai Foyen, Andy Gordon, James Wilson, Darksyderz, James Smith, Fun Size Jonny, Raoul and Yeti, Herr Doktor von Megatron, Jonny, Earl Grey, Fenwick Ridley, Bill, The Beast.

3 rooms of unbridled madness featuring energy, psy trance, techno, hard dance, acid house, industrial, rave, old school, breaks and house.

Super early bird tickets - £7.50 – sold out, Saver tickets £10 – sold out
    Standard tickets - £12.50. Coach/travel - £7.50.

Oh, by the way and lest we forget this unique event is being held in a secret location where you climb on the bus and then get taken on a magical mystery tour to the Edwardian stately home.

Detox – revisiting the past to reinvent the future
