Although the war was not justified and I am possibly the most anti-war poster on this board - it doesn't even come close to the falklands... Some good did come of this war (saddam was an evil cunt) Maggive went to war in the falklands because a few Argentinian scrap dealers started working on South Georgia, I mean that their is justification for a good old fashioned colonial war :D

And despite my dislike for tony there are noticable changes in things like the NHS.

She shut them cause they lost money hand over fist. How is that not the right thing to do? Should we pay for people to lose the country money?

I live in an area that was fucked over by the tories and I can honestly say it is better for it. Glad she had the balls to take on the unions.

Iraq, NHS, Euro, Tax raises, More tax raises, Cheri-gate etc etc.

Im not saying Labour are any worse than the tory's - but the opposition always makes a point that they would make things substantially better if THEY were in power.

So labour come along, and 6 years on.... I pay more money in taxes than i did under the tories, i cant afford a house, crime has increased... ad infinitum.

It all comes down the the fact that we think we live in a democracy, and that we have the ability to vote people in who will make a change to our lives... when in actual fact its just the same shit - just a different leader and party.

this isn't a personal dig, cos loads of peeps have been saying the same thing lately, but...

i hate it when peeps say this, cos saddam wasn't allowing proper inspections/interviews etc, leading the outside (most of it) to believe that he was hiding things, he has used chemical weapons before, in wars and on his own people (but then again so have the americans...). not the sort of person to be given the denefit of the doubt, i think you'll agree, he was doing what he thought was best at the time, pretecting the people in the country, and the rest of the world...

basically what i'm trying to say is i hate it when peeps ask for these weapons, all coyly, as if they knew that there wasn't any there to start with, before the war. but not many people said he didn't have/was researching these weapons did they (althought a lot are now coming out of the woodwork to say they did when you never heard a peep out of them before/during the war!!

p.s. i don't like tony either i jus hate it when people say things like that!!!

    :)

well said, it caused massive un-employment issues, but it was needed to kick us out of the post-industrial era. our economy required massive refocusing or it would simply of collapsed.

    I'm sorry but what

Iraq - granted we joined in but this was an amaerican war.

NHS - there has been huge amounts of money poured into the NHS, even locally Bishop and Durham hospitals have been rebuilt and modernised.

    Euro - what?

Tax Raises - Again what? Are you forgetting all the tory raises, the introduction of poll tax, the so called income-redistribution... In contrast to the rest fo the globe our economy is suprisingly stable at the moment

Cheri-Gate - Please the tory party has had far more scandals than labour... Archer, Aitken, Hamilton to name a few off the top of my head :D

iamian what are you talking about hans blix stated there was no threat!

I have said all along there is none, I have always said that. I have said since the start and before that we are totally in the wrong and our leaders should be sent to prison for lying to us so that they could start a war.

We have caused the death of countless people and it appears made the terror situation worse.

It makes me ashamed to be British, we are playground bullies who need taking down many, many pegs.

I agree - but the tories wanted to do exactly the same.. I fail to see how a tory government would be any better...

he stated there was no threat from the evidence that he had seen, of course theres not gonna be any, saddam wasn't allowing full access to research areas!

on the whole war thing, saddam was giving the impression that he had these weapons, an we have seen in the past that he could have the facilities to produce them...

don't know about you but i'm glad the threat has been taken away... he was a mad fukker an was killing his own peeps so wouldn't think twice about killing any1 elses!

It just goes to show what a fucked up world we live in when a government does a bad job - but they can get away with it by saying "well at least we arent as bad as the tories were"

    :D

Agreed, which brings me back to my first post.

    Democracy does not work...

...but I'd rather have a wolf than a snake running the UK.

but if we hadn't of gone to war then the situation wasn't going to just go away was it, what was gonna happen in 5 or 10 years?

we would be in the same position, but iraq would've been in a stronger position...

an what the fukk are we all going on about when we all know bush's real reasons were oil and power, regardless of what america/britain say were the reasons, they were 2 of the main ones...
